A family-founded company started over 35 years ago, we are backed by the investment company Axel Johnson Inc (AJI).

With their investment and support, we are well-positioned to foster growth and explore new opportunities.

You will play a critical role in ensuring the highest product quality by conducting analytical testing and production floor quality analysis.

You will oversee product testing from raw ingredients to final batch sampling, verifying that all products meet the required specifications.

You will foster collaboration with the manufacturing team to optimize processes and ensure safety and quality standards compliance. This is an existing, full time, permanent role working the afternoon shift, Monday through Friday, 3 PM - 11 PM, with occasional overtime.

What’s in it for you Impact.

Quality and Food Safety are foundational at Skjodt-Barrett.

Your work will directly support the systems that ensure every product leaving our facility meets rigorous safety and quality standards.

In highly regulated categories such as infant nutrition, where expectations are exacting and oversight is strict, your role will help maintain the trust our customers place in us every day.

Hands-on exposure.

This role offers hands-on involvement across the full production process.

You will work both in the lab and on the production floor, participating in sensory testing of raw ingredients, monitoring temperatures and pH throughout production, and sampling finished products to verify quality standards.

You will collaborate closely with Production, R&D, and Quality teams, gaining practical insight into how quality systems operate in a modern food manufacturing environment.

Career development.

Skjodt-Barrett has a long history of promoting from within.

Many team members have built their careers starting in plant or administrative roles and progressed into leadership across Quality, Production, and Operations.

In this role, you will build the technical and operational experience that can open doors across the organization.

How you will make an impact: Ensure quality and compliance.

You will maintain sample integrity by collecting, evaluating, and managing retain samples, including pallet preparation, documentation, and electronic logging.

You will collect, prepare, document, and submit microbiological samples to external laboratories according to established schedules and protocols.

You will also support food safety verification programs through ATP, allergen, environmental, and water sample collection.

Verify materials and production standards.

You will evaluate, test, and release raw materials to confirm compliance with food safety and quality specifications prior to use.

You will verify and document critical processing parameters across batching, filling, and post-pasteurization systems by reviewing displays, chart recorders, work instructions, and retention times, and signing off on approved processing parameter check sheets.

Perform product testing and verification.

You will conduct in-process and finished product testing to support timely product release, including Vitamin C, malic acid and %TA titration and adjustments; Brix, pH, viscosity, Bostwick, USDA flow; texture analysis; water activity; spread and bake testing; density determination; inversion; torque, compression, and tensile testing; and sensory evaluations.

You will also verify packaging and labeling accuracy through weight checks, package integrity checks, metal detector validation, and product coding verification.

You will support sanitation and allergen control programs by maintaining SSOP boards and executing post-sanitation validations, including allergen swabbing (Neogen).

You will monitor production areas to ensure adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).

Support documentation and compliance.

You will complete and maintain required quality and food safety records, including sanitation logs, calibration records, glass and brittle plastic audits, light intensity checks, water/air/steam monitoring, and NC hold documentation.

Investigate and resolve quality issues.

You will initiate, investigate, and document non-conformances (NCRs), communicate findings to QA leadership, and support root cause analysis and corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

Support customer and internal quality requests.

You will prepare and release Certificates of Analysis (COAs), collect samples for Sales, Product Development, and external partners, and inspect and release NC holds.

Maintain operational communication.

You will support effective shift-to-shift communication by sharing critical quality and production information to maintain continuity and alignment across teams.

What you bring to the role: The qualifications.

You are highly organized, detail-oriented, and excel at planning, with a continuous learning mindset to expand your knowledge and expertise.
