The Mission: Protect the Cash Today, Build the Future Tomorrow
We are looking for a tactical, data-driven Accounting Manager to be the financial bedrock of Hudson. We are a $3.8M company scaling to $5M and beyond. We are looking for an ambitious financial operator who wants to plant their flag, dig in, own the data, and build a long-term home with us as we grow.
Your Operational Box (The "Now" - First 90 Days):
- The Software Handshake: You’ll oversee the flow of financial and operational data between our accounting system and related business platforms. Your role is to ensure that invoicing, scheduling, and job-costing information stays accurate and synchronised across all systems—minimising manual work and maintaining financial integrity.
- Full Cycle Accounting: You oversee the general ledger and journal entries, ensuring vendors are paid, customer invoices are collected, fixed assets are accurately tracked, and bank/credit card reconciliations are completed and balanced. You also manage HST filings, WSIB reporting, and liaise with our external accounting firm on year-end and corporate tax compliance.
- Month-End Close & Compliance: You will lead a swift month-end close process to produce accurate financial statements. You will maintain internal controls to ensure our books adhere to GAAP standards and are bulletproof for external and tax audits.
- Budget, Forecasting & Variance Analysis: Take the baton on our existing 2026 budget and weekly cash flow forecasts. You will maintain the model, update the actuals, and perform variance analysis to report discrepancies directly to the owner.
- Job-Costing Integrity: You track materials and labour against our estimates for the Security, Perimeter, and Doors divisions. You flag margin bleed instantly.
- Payroll, Benefits & People Paperwork: You process bi‑weekly payroll and administer our company health benefits program. To support confidentiality, you also manage basic employee documentation—posting job ads, forwarding applications to hiring managers, and preparing and securely filing employee contracts and records. (Note: This role manages documentation and data only; it does not include people management or strategic HR.)
The Expansion (The "Next" - Months 6 to 12):
- Inventory Management Architecture & Procurement Oversight: We are 98% complete on our ServiceBox rollout. Your mission is to architect and oversee the Inventory Management module. You will design the system workflow, establish vendor pricing agreements, and optimize the supply chain. (You are the architect, not the daily order-taker—we want your brain on the strategy, not burning out on daily logistics).

What You Bring to the Table:
- Experience: 5+ years of progressive, full-cycle financial accounting experience, with a proven track record of cost-savings, financial reporting, or procurement/inventory optimization. (Experience in Construction, Trades, or B2B industries is highly preferred).
- Education: Degree/Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce. (CPA is not required).
- System Mastery: Highly proficient in QuickBooks Online, Dext, advanced spreadsheet reverse-engineering, and managing data flows between field operations software (like ServiceBox) and the general ledger.
What Hudson Offers:
- Target Salary: $65,000 - $85,000 (Based on experience, with clear milestones for compensation growth as you move up the track toward the Controller band).
- Schedule & Time Off: Full-time, onsite position, working 42.5 hours weekly, initially including three (3) weeks of paid vacation.
