Electrical Design Engineer – 6 Month Contract
Location: London, Ontario (In-Office)
Pay Rate: $-/hour
Job Description
Our client is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer who will participate in all aspects of the design process for projects across their various business groups. Using their applied knowledge of electrical principles, the successful candidate will be responsible for the design, development, testing, manufacturing, and release of electrical and mechanical systems as assigned.
The Electrical Design Engineer will provide solutions to technical problems and will be accountable for all stages of the design process including testing, continuous improvement, assembling, updating documentation, and repairing when required.
Summary of Major Accountabilities
Product Design

Create electrical drawings and layouts.

Analyze electrical circuits for stability and power dissipation, ensuring designs remain within tolerances across the full range of usage.

Validate new designs including prototyping and troubleshooting.

Conduct functional, environmental, and field testing of new designs.

Create assembly drawings for all designed products.

Perform part research, select alternates, and conduct life-checks.

Recommend improvements to existing product designs.

Prepare specifications for the purchase of materials and equipment.

Research components, suppliers, and materials for suitability, durability, and cost effectiveness.

Debug product issues.
Documentation
-
Create and maintain technical specifications, diagrams, and instructions.

Create product parts lists and manufacturing instructions.

Investigate, analyze, and document identified product defects.

Maintain product information and documentation in relevant internal systems.

Provide Engineering Administrator support as needed to maintain and update product documentation.
Support Team and Organizational Goals

Stay current with industry trends and product development practices.

Collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team.

Attend and participate in department meetings as required.

Participate in ongoing activities and/or committees as needed.

Perform other duties as assigned by the direct manager.
Minimum Qualifications

3 or 4-year Diploma/Degree in Electrical, Electronic, or a similar field of study.

3–5 years of experience in an embedded design or testing role.

Mechanical design experience is considered an asset.

Good knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Strong understanding of electrical and electronic principles.
