As our tank cleaning operations continue to expand across Western Canada, we are seeking a Site Lead Hand to support field supervisors in executing projects safely while helping develop the next generation of skilled industrial technicians.
Position Overview
The Site Lead Hand is a hands-on field leadership role responsible for supporting the Project Supervisor in the safe and efficient execution of industrial tank and vessel cleaning operations.
This position leads by example working directly alongside crews in the field, including confined space environments while helping coordinate daily work activities, mentor junior personnel, and ensure job plans are executed effectively.
The ideal candidate has strong field experience in industrial cleaning and tank operations, understands the realities of confined space work, and takes pride in training and developing other technicians while maintaining a strong safety culture.
Key Responsibilities
Support the Project Supervisor in the daily execution of industrial cleaning projects in operating facilities
Lead and guide crews performing:
- Tank and vessel cleaning
- Confined space entry operations
- Sludge removal and material handling
- High-pressure water blasting and industrial cleaning activities
Act as the field lead for crews inside and outside confined spaces, ensuring work plans are followed and tasks are executed safely and efficiently
Provide hands-on leadership by working directly alongside the crew when required, including confined space entry operations
Assist with training, mentoring, and cross-training technicians to build team capability and operational efficiency
Monitor job progress and communicate daily updates, challenges, and productivity metrics to the Project Supervisor
Assist with:
- Equipment setup and jobsite preparation
- Permit compliance and safety documentation
- Crew coordination and work assignments
Ensure all work is performed in accordance with:
- Confined space procedures
- Lockout/tagout protocols
- Site safety policies and regulatory requirements
Participate in:
- Job hazard assessments
- Toolbox talks and safety meetings
- Continuous improvement of field procedures
Help maintain strong working relationships with clients and site representatives.
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum 3+ years of industrial cleaning or tank cleaning field experience
Experience working in:
- Confined space environments
- Tank and vessel cleaning operations
- Heavy industrial facilities (refineries, terminals, petrochemical, energy)
Strong working knowledge of:
- Confined space entry procedures
- Lockout/tagout requirements
- Industrial safety practices
Demonstrated ability to lead small crews in the field while remaining highly hands-on
Ability to work in physically demanding environments, including confined spaces and elevated work areas
Strong communication skills and the ability to support supervisors with daily reporting and crew coordination
Valid drivers license and ability to travel to project sites across Western Canada

CSTS / CSO or equivalent

First Aid / CPR
Confined Space Entry
Fall Protection
Additional industrial safety certifications are considered an asset.
