Job description

Job Description

The Operational Solutions and Technologies team is dedicated to delivering innovative solutions that enhance the resilience, efficiency, and sustainability of critical infrastructure, systems, and engineering projects. Leveraging expertise in cybersecurity, telecommunications, IT/OT convergence, intelligent automation, software and systems engineering, and systems integration, the team develops resilient, scalable, and optimized solutions that ensure the long-term sustainability of infrastructure throughout its lifecycle. Join us and immerse yourself in a dynamic, innovative, and collaborative environment where you’ll make a real impact. Together, we’ll push boundaries and go above what’s expected of us to meet the challenges of tomorrow and engineer a better world!

CIMA+ offices in Western Canada are on a strong growth trajectory, creating opportunities to contribute to exciting and complex projects, develop new skills, take on new challenges, and advance your career within the organization.

As a Telecom Engineer, you will be engaged in the design and delivery of mission-critical telecommunications systems across a variety of projects for CIMA+’s key clients. Our telecommunications team works with industrial and public-sector clients across power utilities, energy, transportation, telecommunications carriers, and other critical infrastructure sectors.

You will contribute to system architecture, design, and implementation; develop engineering designs and technical deliverables; coordinate with other engineering disciplines; and work collaboratively with project teams and clients to develop practical, reliable, and resilient telecommunications solutions across a broad range of wired and wireless applications.

If you value diversity in projects and technical challenges, this position is for you. This is a hybrid role that can be based out of our offices in Vancouver, Kelowna, Calgary, or Edmonton.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop telecommunications system designs and engineering deliverables under the direction of senior technical staff.
  • Prepare network architectures, schematics, block diagrams, interconnection diagrams, and design drawings.
  • Prepare technical specifications, design reports, calculations, bills of materials, inspection and testing procedures, and procurement documentation.
  • Support project scope development, proposals, estimates, schedules and budgets.
  • Coordinate technical interfaces with clients, vendors, contractors, and other engineering disciplines.
  • Support equipment evaluation, procurement, staging, FAT/SAT, installation, testing, and commissioning activities.
  • Travel to project sites as required to support field investigations, installation, commissioning, and issue resolution.
  • Respond to site information requests and complete project documentation, including record drawings, calculations and project closeout information.
  • Participate in design reviews and progressively develop technical leadership capability within the telecommunications team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering or an equivalent engineering discipline.
  • Registered as, or eligible for registration as, a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with the applicable provincial engineering regulator.
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in the design and implementation of wired and wireless telecommunications systems, preferably within an EPC/EPCM, consulting or owner/client environment.
  • Experience with networks supporting operationally critical or mission-critical applications, including design considerations across OSI Layers 1 to 4.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong organizational skills and the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and clients.
  • Integrity, team spirit, and a commitment to excellence

Technical Experience

Experience with several of the following technologies is preferred, with an interest in developing broader capability across mission-critical operational telecommunications.

  • Transport & Packet Networks:
