Job description
Job Description

At AECOM we balance the world’s need for safe, reliable water with protecting this critical natural resource for the future through a deep understanding of interconnected systems. Our professionals work in and across the major markets to deliver comprehensive solutions that safeguard human health and the environment.

We work with clients across the entire project life cycle — from initial planning studies through final construction and operations and maintenance services — on both traditional and alternative project-delivery options (design-build, public-private partnerships and financing). We design projects that are fully constructible.

We are seeking an experienced Municipal Project Manager to lead the planning, design, and delivery of municipal infrastructure projects that support growing communities. In this role, you will manage the full lifecycle of projects involving water distribution, sanitary collection, stormwater systems, and roadway reconstruction or expansion. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, municipal clients, and contractors while overseeing project scope, schedule, budget, and quality, and providing technical guidance and mentorship to engineering teams.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Lead the delivery of municipal infrastructure projects from planning and design through construction and commissioning.
  • Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, and proposals while monitoring performance and cost forecasts.
  • Provide senior technical oversight for water, sanitary, stormwater, grading, roadway, and utility design.
  • Oversee construction administration including RFIs, change orders, shop drawing reviews, inspections, and contractor coordination.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with municipal clients, utilities, regulators, and other project stakeholders.
  • Prepare technical reports, support permitting and approvals, and ensure compliance with applicable standards.
  • Mentor junior team members and promote strong QA/QC and project delivery practices.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • BA degree in Civil Engineering and Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation
  • 4+ years of progressive Project Management experience in municipal engineering and infrastructure project delivery.
  • Demonstrated experience with water, sanitary, stormwater, and roadway design and construction.
  • Strong understanding of municipal standards, provincial regulations, and engineering best practices.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience delivering municipal infrastructure projects.
  • Experience with asset management, master planning, or capital program development.
  • PMP or equivalent project management certification.
  • Ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and complex project portfolios.
  • Strong communication skills for client engagement, reporting, and public presentations.
  • Proficiency with civil engineering tools (e.g., Civil 3D, hydraulic modeling) is an asset.
  • Experience working with municipal governments or consulting engineering firms.
  • Familiarity with contract formats such as CCDC, municipal unit-price, or design-build.

Additional Information

  • Sponsorship for Canadian employment authorization is not available for this position.

At AECOM, we are committed to maintaining a secure and trustworthy recruitment process and take any fraudulent hiring activity seriously. To support this commitment, all newly hired employees are required to attend an in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office location as a condition of employment.
