This is a one-year term position with the possibility of extension.
Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
The salary range for this position is:
• Recruitment range: $65,860 - $72,607 starting salary determined by the PEA Collective Agreement.
• Performance range: $85,633salary range ceiling is available through annual performance increases.
Job Summary
Mandate
As an integral member of Student Wellness, the Multifaith Program Coordinator collaborates with Multifaith Centre (MFC) volunteer Spiritual Care Providers to deliver spiritual wellness supports for students. The Program Coordinator manages the daily operations of the Multifaith Centre, including facilities oversight, budget administration, program coordination, and program promotion. This role also supervises and coordinates the activity of volunteers and Work Study students to ensure high quality services for students and staff.
In addition, the Multifaith Program Coordinator promotes an inclusive and respectful campus environment by supporting the spiritual, religious, and philosophical needs of the university community. The position leads multifaith programming, builds religious literacy across campus, fosters dialogue among diverse traditions, and collaborates with campus partners to advance well-being, belonging, and intercultural understanding in alignment with the University of Victoria’s commitments to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Objectives
- Maintain smooth, inclusive daily operations of the Multifaith Centre, including facilities, scheduling, and budget oversight (up to $30,000)
- Lead and coordinate multifaith programs and events that promote spiritual wellness, belonging, and interfaith understanding.
- Support, coordinate and supervise Spiritual Care Providers and student staff, ensuring effective onboarding, communication, and service quality.
- Build strong partnerships across campus and with community groups to enhance collaboration, religious literacy, and student support pathways.
- Provide responsive, perceptive, culturally informed support and referrals to students, contributing to their overall well being.
- Advance institutional goals related to equity, diversity, inclusion, and wellness through aligned programming, reporting, and strategic participation.
Job Requirements
This position requires a level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Religious Studies, Theology, Culture & Society, Psychology, Business Administration, or a related discipline, plus a minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in program coordination, preferably in a post-secondary education setting. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities include:
- Demonstrated knowledge of religious pluralism, spirituality, and diversity issues in post-secondary education.
- Demonstrated knowledge of risk management and trauma-informed approaches and practices.
- Strong planning, organizational, administrative, and coordination skills that support collaboration and a positive working environment.
- Strong analytical, research, problem-solving, decision-making, and conflict resolution skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with Spiritual Care Providers, faith-based community groups, and student groups while supporting religious freedom.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, diplomacy, tact, and discretion, and to maintain confidentiality.
- Commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive and respectful working and learning environment.
- Understanding of colonial history and the impacts of colonization on spirituality and well-being, particularly for Indigenous peoples, and the connections between colonial systems and post-secondary education structures.
- Experience working with individuals of diverse faiths and spiritual identities in program development, coordination, and student support services.
- Ability to foster community and respectful dialogue among individuals with diverse backgrounds and intersecting identities.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships within professional and community faith networks.
- Cultural awareness of Indigenous peoples in British Columbia, including knowledge of barriers Indigenous students may face in post-secondary settings.
- Ability to build and support collaborative working relationships with campus stakeholders, including a diverse range of students.
- Proficiency in the use of standard office applications and enterprise-level information systems.
