Title: Security Consultant – DDoS & WAF

Location: Alberta/Remote

Duration: 4 Months (Part time)

Salary Range: CAD 75-80/hr. Inc

Introduction

We are seeking a skilled professional with extensive experience in cybersecurity, particularly in DDoS mitigation and Web Application Firewall (WAF) solutions. The role involves supporting a government healthcare entity in Alberta to ensure secure and resilient internet-facing application protection through Cloudflare and F5 solutions.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 8–10 years of cybersecurity experience with a focus on application and network security engineering.
• Hands-on experience designing and implementing DDoS mitigation using Cloudflare.
• Strong implementation experience with F5 BIG-IP ASM / Advanced WAF.
• Experience integrating WAF/DDoS logs with SIEM platforms.
• Hands-on experience with F5 LTM, iRules, and automation via APIs.
• Familiarity with OWASP Top 10, MITRE ATT&CK, and threat modeling methodologies.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

• Certifications: F5 Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) – ASM / Advanced WAF, - F5 Certified BIG-IP Administrator, Cloudflare Technical Certifications
• Cybersecurity Certifications: CISSP, CCSP, CISM or CISA
• Network/Security Certifications: CCNP Security, CompTIA Security+ or CySA+
• Experience with Cloudflare Magic Transit, API Shield, and Bot Management.
• Experience with DevSecOps and CI/CD security integration.
• Knowledge of Canadian healthcare security/privacy frameworks.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Design and implement DDoS protection architecture using Cloudflare.
• Architect and deploy F5 Web Application Firewall (WAF) solutions.
• Lead hands-on deployment and configuration of Cloudflare and F5 solutions.
• Configure WAF rulesets, signatures, bot defense, and API protection policies.
• Integrate WAF/DDoS telemetry into SIEM/SOC platforms for monitoring and incident response.
• Collaborate with SOC teams on alert tuning, incident triage, and mitigation workflows.
• Produce design documents, architecture diagrams, and operational runbooks.
