Public Educator - Internal and External Trainer Direct Service - (OPSEU) Full-Time, Contract (End date: April 16, 2027) London, St.

Thomas, Strathroy, Woodstock, Exeter Ontario (London Zone, Elgin Zone, Middlesex Zone, Oxford Zone, Huron Zone) This posting is the result of a current vacancy - Application Deadline: April 27, 2026 - As an External Trainer, you will help build understanding and reduce stigma around mental health and addiction through high-quality education.

You will deliver primarily manualized workshops to businesses, community agencies, and the public, while also having opportunities to develop and facilitate tailored training sessions to meet unique community needs. In this role, you will strengthen relationships across the community and proactively engage partners to identify and create new training opportunities.

As an Internal Trainer, you will deliver priority internal training such as ASIST and CPI, helping to ensure our staff are confident, skilled, and supported.

You'll also share your expertise as an active member of the Critical Incident Debrief team, providing guidance and stability during challenging events.

WHAT WE'RE OFFERING: What you'll be making - Starting rate for this role is $27.14 per hour (Level 1 – Direct Service), with a wage differential, based on regulation ( $30.01 per hour for Level 1 – Direct Service, Regulated): Successful candidates who are registered with one of the designated professional colleges (e.g.

OCSWSSW, CNO, COTO, CRPO, CPSO, or CPO) will receive the wage differential for regulation Successful external applicants will start at Level 1, with grid progression based on seniority up to Level 8 ($34.41 per hour for non-regulated, and $37.26 per hour for regulated); for internal applicants, grid level placement will occur as per the Collective Agreement When you'll work - 70 hours biweekly; Scheduled between the hours of 8:30am-4:30pm Monday-Friday.

May be required to work evenings and weekends to facilitate workshops as needed.

Your pension plan –Immediately eligible for optional enrolment in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP) What your benefits will be – 9% in lieu of benefits HOW YOU WILL BE MAKING A DIFFERENCE: Internal and External Training/Public Education: Develop and facilitate educational and skill enhancement training workshops/programs Work collaboratively with the Learning and Development team to schedule internal training based on agency need Facilitate internal CMHA TVAMHS manualized educational and skill enhancement training such as ASIST and CPI May assist in developing internal training modules as needed Research and monitor new mental health and addictions education tools, resources, training and key stats/indicators about mental health, mental illness and addiction on a regular basis Develop an inventory of PowerPoint presentations and facilitate educational and skill enhancement training workshops Act as a resource to other staff members who are looking to support outside agencies or community partners with education resources Have a comprehensive understanding of programs at CMHA TVAMHS and staying current with program developments/changes as they occur Liaise with community partners for future training needs Work with Program Support staff to build a viable training schedule Obtain feedback from presentations and use feedback to develop new programs and workshops based on community needs and developments in the mental health promotion, mental wellness, addiction support areas, and other related fields Participate in planning and facilitating a variety of mental health and addiction awareness activities such as awareness weeks, or events Events and Community Development: Maintain positive relationships with businesses and community partners Participate in health fairs, awareness walks, events, etc.

as required Work with Program Support to organize staff speakers, info displays and events when requested Support individuals of lived experience, family members and supporters of mental health or addictions support to engage with the organization in the promotion of positive mental health and wellness Work collaboratively within the organizations programs to support education and awareness campaigns as required (i.e.

Communications, Volunteer Coordinator Outreach and Marketing: Assertive outreach to businesses and agencies to generate requests for training.

Present professionally as a representative of the agency Administrative: Coordinate and maintain supplies, room bookings and materials needed for scheduled presentations Determine costs and manage payment options for all fee for service offerings Coach employees who are participating as speakers Reply to information requests Provide occasional support for the internal sharing of resources (posters, forms, pledge sheets, etc.) for community events Provide regular updates to content and calendar items on the branch website Evaluate and report on Public Education activities as required for the agency and for specific funders Other duties, as required WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO APPLY: Police Vulnerable Sector Check Requirements Successful candidates must have a Police Vulnerable Sector Check completed in the last six months.

Interested applicants who reside in the City of London and are in need of a Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) are encouraged to apply for one as soon as possible as PVSCs in the City of London are currently taking approximately 2 weeks to be processed and offers of employment cannot be made without receipt of a PVSC.

We require the following qualifications: College Diploma or University Degree in social services or a related field, preferably Adult Education Certification as a trainer in at least two of the following: ASIST, CPI, Mental Health First Aid, Living Life to the Full, Mental Health Works, SafeTalk *Candidates must meet this requirement* Valid Driver’s License Access to a vehicle required for personal transportation We prefer the following qualifications: Training in ASIST, CPI, First Aid & CPR Experience working with the public, including public speaking and presentations to a variety of groups Experience in marketing, including promoting programs, communicating value to diverse audiences, and increasing participation through strategic outreach Experience and skills in developing dynamic, interactive presentations to groups of varying sizes Experience responding to crisis situations In-depth understanding of mental health, addictions, trauma and social issues such as poverty, healthy equity, housing and homelessness Familiarity with a recovery-based model of care, and an awareness of the needs of diverse communities Extensive knowledge of community resources, service and support programs, as well as a knowledge of the barriers individuals face in accessing supports Working knowledge of a variety of treatment, intervention, and support strategies Experience with critical incidents and crisis Experience working in a community-based setting, preferably with an established network of service and support resources Bilingual both official languages, preferred; préférence sera accordée aux candidats qui sont compétents dans les deux langues officielles du Canada INTERNAL APPLICANTS: To be considered as an internal applicant, current staff members are reminded to apply using their @cmhatv.ca or @slwar.ca email address.
