Position Summary:
The IT System Administrator is the on-site technology point of contact for Ampco’s manufacturing facility, combining Tier 1/2 IT support with ERP end-user assistance, shop floor technology management, and compliance support. This role is responsible for providing day-to-day technical support to approximately 150 employees, managing shop floor hardware and software, supporting SyteLine ERP operations, and maintaining TISAX and ISO 27001 compliance documentation. The position requires strong troubleshooting skills, excellent communication with non-technical users, and collaboration with the IT Manager, MSP, and remote team members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide Tier 1/2 IT support including Microsoft 365 administration, hardware troubleshooting, printer support, network connectivity issues, user account management, and password resets.
- Support SyteLine ERP end-users by troubleshooting login issues, assisting with data entry, running standard reports, and escalating complex issues to the ERP Administrator.
- Manage shop floor technology including barcode scanners, label printers (Zebra/SATO), ShopTrack terminals, and production display monitors.
- Conduct IT onboarding for new employees including account creation, hardware setup, M365 licensing, ERP access provisioning, and security awareness training.
- Conduct IT offboarding for departing employees including account deactivation, hardware recovery, access revocation, and documentation.
- Support TISAX and ISO 27001 compliance by maintaining asset inventory, access control documentation, audit evidence, and policy records.
- Maintain IT knowledge base, runbooks, troubleshooting guides, and procedural documentation.
- Coordinate with the Managed Service Provider (MSP) for escalated infrastructure, cybersecurity, and network issues.
- Assist with user acceptance testing (UAT) for new ERP features and migrated applications.
- Support Meraki network equipment including basic switch, firewall, and wireless troubleshooting.
- Manage IT asset lifecycle including procurement, deployment, inventory tracking, and retirement.
- Support meeting room technology, VoIP phones, and AV equipment.
- Assist with building security systems and access settings, including badge programming and user permissions management.
- Participate in IT projects, ensuring deliverables are completed on time, within scope, and aligned with company objectives.
What You Bring to Ampco:
- Diploma or degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent post-secondary education.
- Minimum of 2+ years in an IT support role (Tier 1/2 helpdesk or desktop support).
- Microsoft 365 administration experience (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, basic Intune).
- Basic SQL skills including the ability to run queries and understand database tables and relationships.
- Strong troubleshooting methodology and structured problem-solving approach.
- Excellent communication skills with non-technical users including shop floor operators, production managers, and office staff.
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing/warehouse environment including standing, walking the floor, and handling hardware.
- Strong documentation habits and attention to detail.
- Experience with any ERP system (Infor SyteLine, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, Epicor, or similar) is preferred.
- Manufacturing or industrial environment IT experience is preferred.
- Active Directory and Azure AD / Entra ID administration experience is an asset.
- ITIL certification or familiarity with IT service management frameworks is an asset.
- Experience with compliance frameworks (ISO 27001, TISAX, SOC 2, or similar) is an asset.
- PowerShell scripting for automation and user management is an asset.
- Meraki or Cisco network equipment experience is an asset.
- Barcode/label printing system experience (Zebra, SATO, or similar) is an asset.
