The Faculty of Social Science Humanities at Ontario Tech University invites applications for a year limited term Academic Associate position in the area of Psychology and Forensic Psychology to commence on August 1, 2026. This position reports to the Dean of the Faculty of Social Science Humanities and is subject to budgetary approval.
Ontario Tech is a technology‑enhanced learning environment and the candidate shall be expected to have skills in the integration of technology into teaching and to model those skills in their own teaching in the University’s web‑centric and mobile learning environment. Primary duties include preparing, delivering and grading all course material, assignments, quizzes and exams for as assigned. The Academic Associate will be available for consultation with students during and following completion of the course. Duties may include the supervision of teaching assistant(s).
The successful candidate will be appointed as a one‑year limited‑term Academic Associate position to teach in the Psychology and Forensic Psychology programs starting August 1, 2026, and ending July 31, 2027. This position reports to the Dean of the Faculty of Social Science and Humanities. The position is subject to budgetary approval.
The Limited‑Term Faculty Member (LTFM) will teach seven courses in the Psychology and Forensic Psychology programs across the Fall, Winter, and Spring/Summer terms. These courses will likely consist of four upper‑year Forensic Psychology courses… as well as three core and upper‑year Psychology courses such as PSYC 2050U – Brain and Behaviour, PSYC 3075U – Biopsychology of Sex, and PSYC 3630U – Sleep and Consciousness. Note that the successful candidate will have some flexibility/options for the specific courses that they will teach.
The LTFM will collaborate with faculty members, staff, and students in the Faculty of Social Science and Humanities (FSSH) to sustain the delivery of the Psychology and Forensic Psychology programs. The LTFM workload will be 70% teaching, 20% other, and 10% service for the year of the contract. The 20% other component of the workload will involve supervising one Psychology or Forensic Psychology Honours Thesis student. The 10% service component of the workload may involve activities such as student recruitment and retention, curricular quality enhancement, and other program‑related committee work.
This position falls within the bargaining unit represented by UOIT Faculty Association and will be subject to the terms and conditions of the collective agreement between the University and UOIT Faculty Association. The collective agreement may be found on the Human Resources section of our website. Starting salary will be commensurate with experience and annual salary increases are administered as per the terms outlined in the collective agreement.
