About the Role The Geotechnical Engineer (MSE) plays a key role in evaluating and designing geosynthetic solutions that are technically sound, cost‑effective, and environmentally responsible.
This position partners closely with the Sales Team to deliver timely designs, drawings, estimates, and feasibility assessments that support successful project outcomes and product sales.
Key Responsibilities • Develop preliminary designs for various MSE wall systems, ensuring alignment with externally completed final designs.
- • Collaborate with clients, engineers, contractors, and suppliers to review project requirements, develop estimates, identify cost efficiencies, and resolve technical issues.
- • Prepare takeoffs and estimate proposals for all Terrafix products as needed.
- • Review project drawings from regional teams and determine optimal geosynthetic solutions.
- • Produce AutoCAD® details to support the Sales Team in communicating product value to clients.
- • Utilize key design software such as MSEW®, ReSSA®, SLOPE/W, SLIDE, and BlueBeam to provide accurate and timely technical assessments.
- • Conduct research on new technologies, environmental impacts, and application tools relevant to geosynthetic solutions.
- • Maintain strong relationships with manufacturer technical personnel for additional support and collaboration.
- • Build and maintain an estimating cost database for various applications.
- • Keep accurate records of customer communications and contact information.
Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering.
- • 3–5 years of experience in civil or geotechnical engineering.
- • Experience with civil/environmental design concepts, geosynthetic applications, and construction practices.
- • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, field drawings, and technical documents.
- • Direct experience in the geosynthetics industry and/or retained wall systems preferred.
- • Professional Engineer (P.Eng/PE), C.E.T., or PMP designation is considered an asset.
Working Conditions • Primarily office-based with occasional travel to job sites.
- • Standard work hours are 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, with flexibility for extended hours based on project needs.
