Engineering Intern

Job Description

AECOM is seeking an Engineering Intern to be based in North Bay, ON. This is a new position within the Transportation group.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

• Design for highway, transit, and roadway projects including municipal roads, highways, structural and transit infrastructure.

• Preparation of drawings, specifications, and quantity take-off's

• Design of roadway/ highway infrastructure in accordance with applicable regulations, laws, standards, etc. Typically used standards include TAC, MTO and OPS standards.

• Producing and checking a wide variety of designs, grading models, DTM surface and applicable details

• Collects and analyzes data under the supervision of an experienced engineer.

• Uses computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.

• Utilize and maintain technical databases and file structures within project files.

• Work with tight schedules, be flexible, and contribute in a high performing design team.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

• Must currently be in a relevant Bachelor's Degree in Engineering

• Must have completed three years of their bachelor's degree.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Basic knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as AutoCAD, Civil3D, MicroStation, AutoTurn, InRoads/ OpenRoads, InfraWorks).

• Relevant internship or professional work experience in support of transportation design.

• Strong problem solving and decision-making abilities and interpersonal skills.

• Capable of using spreadsheet, word processing, Microsoft Project, and standard office software.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Skilled in technical writing, communicating and presenting and capable of using spreadsheet, word processing and standard office software.

• Ability to work with minimal supervision.

• Relocation is not available for this position.
