At Aviva Canada, we put people first, our employees, our customers, and our communities. We’re proud of a culture built on care, inclusion, and collaboration, where your voice matters and your growth is supported. We’re not just about insurance; we’re about making a real difference by protecting what matters most.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled actuarial professional to join the Economic Capital team as a Senior Actuarial Analyst. In this role, you will contribute to the development, maintenance, and enhancement of our industry‑leading Economic Capital Internal Model, with a strong focus on capital modelling, quantitative risk analysis, and advanced statistical techniques.

You will work extensively with stochastic modelling frameworks to assess various risk and capital requirements across Aviva Canada’s business. This role provides deep exposure to enterprise‑wide risk management, capital allocation, and risk modelling, and is ideal for candidates looking to advance expertise in quantitative modelling and financial risk modelling.

What you’ll do:

  • Provide technical support for the Internal Economic Capital Model, including methodology, parameterization, validation, and analysis.

  • Support B‑15 OSFI Climate Risk Management through the physical risk modelling stream.

  • Design, build, and maintain stochastic simulation frameworks and statistical models to improve risk aggregation, dependency modelling, and capital estimation methodologies.

  • Analyze complex actuarial and financial datasets using statistical methods to derive insights for capital risk modelling.

  • Work on catastrophe model applications in the business, including CAT loading development, capital analysis, and hazard/peril adjustments.

  • Support the development of capital metrics used for planning, performance management, strategic decisions, and risk optimization.

What you’ll bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in quantitative field e.g. Actuarial, Mathematics, Statistics/Economics, Data Analytics, Computer Science or equivalent.

  • Progress towards ACAS and relevant actuarial experience.

  • Hands-on experience with statistical modelling, stochastic processes, and quantitative risk modelling.

  • Ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to both actuarial and non‑technical audiences.

  • Strong quantitative analysis, problem solving and programming skills (VBA, SAS, Python/R).

  • Solid understanding of Monte Carlo simulation, model validation, and model governance frameworks.

What makes you stand out:

  • Expertise in statistical modelling or predictive analytics, including model development and validation.

  • Experience with catastrophe models and exposure management.

What you’ll get:

  • The salary band for this position ranges from $90,000 to $110,000. Please note that individual salary is determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experience, as well as internal equity.

  • Compelling rewards package including base compensation, eligibility for annual bonus, retirement savings, share plan, health benefits, personal wellness, and volunteer opportunities.

  • Hybrid flexible work model.

  • Outstanding career development opportunities.

  • We’ll support your professional development education.

  • Competitive vacation package with the option to purchase 5 extra days off per year.

  • Employee-driven programs focused on gender, LGBTQ+, origins, diversity, and inclusion.

  • Corporate wellness programs to support our employees’ physical and mental health.
