Job Description

The Business Architecture Advisor for the claims system modernization translates business strategy into solutions and integrates business line needs. They ensure synergy and consistency of solutions with other dimensions of enterprise architecture.

The advisor will work with the team on the target solution based on the business sector’s vision and propose solutions that respect business priorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and document business architecture for initiatives under their responsibility
  • Recommend optimal breakdown and sequencing of initiative delivery
  • Ensure initiatives are aligned with enterprise architecture targets
  • Contribute to cost-benefit analyses and risk assessments of proposed business opportunities and initiatives
  • Coordinate actions of key stakeholders involved in business architecture mandates
  • Advise, support, and influence the organization from an improvement and innovation perspective
  • Lead workshops and provide leadership on assigned files
  • Ensure adherence to the scope of assigned work
  • Ensure alignment with the architecture team regarding solutions, directions, decisions, and issues

  • Exceptional communication skills and ability to simplify complex concepts

  • Ability to influence teams on industry best practices and stakeholders they interact with

Required Knowledge and Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in business architecture, including 5 years in property and casualty insurance
  • Practical experience in claims/indemnification
  • Experience in large-scale projects/programs
  • Autonomous leadership of architecture mandates
  • Experience leading executive-level workshops
  • Strong executive-level communication and writing skills in an influence role
  • Knowledge of the Guidewire/Claims ecosystem
  • Business architect experience in large projects involving multiple system integrations
  • Will also work on files involving integrations with Policy, Billing, Finance, Customer, etc.
  • Knowledge of the insurance and claims sector
  • Ability to write business needs and business requirements
  • Ability to write business architecture documents
  • Ability to support business analysts (coach them in requirements writing, validate analysis documents, provide guidance)
  • Ability to prepare positioning documents and present them to project committees
  • Bilingual
