Position Overview
Under the direction of the Manager of Health Services, the incumbent is responsible for
- Coordination of care related to specialized breastfeeding support for the Women's Program to include: providing quality care; acting as a resource to other health care professionals; participating in the discharge process; educating patients, family, staff and students with respect to breastfeeding; and performing other related duties as assigned.
Experience
- Minimum three years recent clinical experience in maternal or newborn nursing.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
- Graduation from an approved School of Nursing required. BN preferred.
Special Training:
- Successful completion of certification as an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant required.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
- Responsible for maintaining and providing proof of registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM).
- Active participation in professional associations e.g., Association of Regulated Nurses of Manitoba (ARNM) preferred.
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Training requirements for this position shall be in accordance with the Shared Health policy.
Qualifications and Skills
- Scope of practice as documented in the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA).
Physical Requirements
- Ability to perform the essential physical requirements of the position.
- Moderate physical effort required.
