We are currently seeking a qualified Construction Safety Officer to join our infrastructure team, based out of Toronto, ON. The Construction Safety Officer will be responsible performing construction assurance and compliance activities on the Ontario Line subway project.
Bantrel Infrastructure, is a key sub-vendor to Bechtel, have been appointed the Delivery Partner within an integrated team with the customer, Metrolinx, for the Ontario Line Subway (OLS) Project and will work in a Delivery Partner role within an integrated team with the customer organization for a Subway Project in Toronto, Ontario. The project scope includes the design build, operations and maintenance of all infrastructure and rail systems associated with 15 stations and over 15 km of new alignment, being performed by two key PPP Contractors and multiple advanced early works (EAW) packages Contractors and two large Progressive Design Build Contracts. The scope includes both managing the Works associated with the program and with the individual construction projects.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Support Project teams to develop Safe Work Procedures and to implement effectively for the safe execution of the works
Perform formal inspections and audits to ensure compliance with the relevant OHS legislation, standards and contract requirements
Provide day to day oversight for on-site construction work conducted by contractors to assess contractor compliance against the relevant OHSA legislation and contract requirements, support with the identification of hazards and implementation of risk mitigation controls
Review site activities and provide support for the protection of workers as well as public, infrastructure and operations
Engage, coordinate and work with Integrated Project Team and internal/external stakeholders to provide consistent and continuous support
In collaboration with the Integrated Project team, review, analyze and outline construction activities and work areas to ensure safe and efficient delivery
Participate and/or support others with incident investigations, including follow up actions to ensure implementation of identified corrective actions
Assist the Safety Director and Safety team with other tasks as required
Qualifications
5-7 years experience in construction safety
Experience in railway safety, infrastructure and heavy civil projects
Strong working knowledge of Ontario OHSA Act and Regulations with an enhanced level of knowledge and experience in construction requirements.
Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Experience in managing multitasks and multiple priorities within time frames
Ability to establish collaborative and effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
