A well-established public accounting firm is conducting a confidential search for an experienced Senior Manager of Audit to lead complex assurance engagements and support the continued growth of its audit and assurance practice.
This role is ideal for a high-performing audit professional with strong technical expertise, proven leadership skills, and experience managing audit teams and client relationships within a public accounting / CPA firm environment.
The Role – Senior Manager, Audit & Assurance
As Senior Manager of Audit, you will oversee multiple audit engagements, mentor managers and seniors, and serve as a key advisor to private and owner-managed clients across a range of industries. This is a leadership role with a clear path to Director or Partner, depending on career goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage audit and assurance engagements from planning through completion
- Review complex audit files and financial statements in accordance with CPA Canada and ASPE / IFRS standards
- Act as the primary client contact for audit engagements, including boards and senior management
- Coach, mentor, and develop Managers, Seniors, and Staff Accountants
- Oversee engagement economics, budgets, timelines, and risk management
- Support practice growth through client retention, cross-selling, and business development
- Contribute to audit methodology, quality control, and best practices within the firm
Candidate Profile
- CPA designation (CPA, CA strongly preferred)
- 10–15+ years of public accounting experience, with significant audit leadership exposure
- Currently operating at Senior Manager of Audit or experienced Audit Manager ready for promotion
- Strong technical knowledge of:
- Audit & assurance standards
- ASPE and/or IFRS reporting
- Private and owner-managed business audits
- Proven experience managing multiple audit engagements and teams simultaneously
- Strong client communication, leadership, and presentation skills
