Humber River Health (HRH) is a prominent 1.8 million square foot, fully digital acute care facility in Canada, equipped with state‑of‑the‑art technology and catering to a wide range of medical needs. It serves a population of over 850,000 individuals residing in the northwest Greater Toronto Area.

HRH operates 722 acute inpatient beds at the Wilson site, with over 4,000 staff, approximately 800 physicians, and more than 1,000 volunteers. HRH also includes the Reactivation Care Centres (RCCs) at the Finch and Church Campuses, which represent a unique partnership among multiple hospitals in the GTA with a focus on delivery of specialised care with the focus on reactivation to patients who have been designated as Alternative Level of Care.

The HRH Research Institute drives the hospital’s pioneering position in digital healthcare innovation as Canada’s first digital hospital. Our Command Centre acts as a “mission control” to manage patient flow and drive the quality of care. We have developed advanced patient flow and care monitoring tools supported by the Command Centre, enabling us to use real‑time data feeds from across the Hospital to improve patient flow, patient safety and outcomes. We have established the Schulich Family Medicine Teaching Unit (Schulich FMTU) in partnership with the University of Toronto, further strengthening our commitment to academic excellence. The Schulich FMTU provides opportunities for residents to learn with academic and community‑based family physicians. Residents also have access to interdisciplinary health professionals to support collaborative learning and comprehensive care experience.

Locum Family Physician (Academic) – Schulich Family Medicine Teaching Unit

Position Summary

Supportive Academic Family Medicine Teaching Unit (FMTU) is seeking a locum to cover a parental leave from May 1, 2026 – Apr 30, 2027. Coverage includes minimum 2 months up to 12 months of coverage, 4 half days a week of clinic where 1–2 a month may be evening clinics, covering a roster of 650 patients. The role also includes 1 half day a week of resident supervision with opportunity to do more. Clinical and supervision half days are 3‑hour blocks, paid at $500 per half day.

The Schulich FMTU at Humber River Health is located on the ground floor of the hospital and is supported by a strong interprofessional team, including on-site nursing, social work, and dietician, with plans to expand to include additional allied health professionals. The practice operates within a Family Health Organization (FHO) model.
