Primary Focus
The Purchaser is responsible for the tactical procurement of commodities, supplies, equipment, and services essential to organizational operations. This role works closely with supervisors to maintain optimal inventory levels. The Purchaser uses intermediate to advanced procurement knowledge to secure goods and services at the most favorable cost while building and sustaining strategic supplier relationships.
Specific Accountabilities

• Provide supply chain management support to assigned project engineering teams and all Silent-Aire departments.
• Independently conduct standard procurement tasks including: Analyzing internal client requirements Reviewing purchase requisitions for compliance with procedures and user needs Preparing routine bids and proposals Creating supporting spreadsheets Conducting detailed product and price comparisons Assisting with bid openings Obtaining supplier quotations
• Assist senior staff with complex investigations, documentation, and analyses.
• Communicate with vendors and internal departments regarding procurement procedures and order status, including: Expediting shipments and deliveries Managing price changes Resolving vendor backorders
• Maintain and update vendor files and price lists for assigned commodity groups, ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, audit requirements, and SOX guidelines.
• Support and assist with preparing statistical and historical data, including validating, reconciling, and processing receiving reports, vendor invoices, and payment documents.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of supply chain systems and processes.

Scope

• Provide supply chain support across all Silent-Aire departments, requiring solid technical knowledge and depth of expertise within a defined scope.
• Work independently on standard assignments and support senior staff with complex projects.
• Maintain consistent verbal and written communication with production and operations personnel.

Working Conditions

• Office environment with regular interaction in a manufacturing setting where Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required.
• PPE must be worn when entering the shop floor.

Education & Experience Requirements

• Post-secondary education in Purchasing/Supply Chain Management, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum + years of purchasing experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Eligibility for SCMP, APICS, and/or ISM certifications; enrollment is an asset.
• Experience with purchasing and inventory control systems; SAP experience preferred.
• Strong financial acumen and prior experience sourcing/purchasing electrical and mechanical components is advantageous.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills with the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
• Proven ability to build and maintain professional relationships with internal stakeholders and external vendors.

Work Arrangement

• Onsite (non-negotiable) for the first few months, with the possibility of transitioning to a hybrid model afterward.
