A Snapshot of Your Day

As the Operational Procurement Manager, you will be at the heart of the manufacturing process, ensuring the seamless flow of materials and services essential for production continuity. Your role is mainly driven by MRP‑based planning, requiring precision, agility, and a deep understanding of manufacturing dynamics. You will manage procurement activities for raw materials, components, consumables, and production‑related services, ensuring alignment with production schedules and operational targets. You’ll lead a team focused on executional excellence, supplier performance, and inventory optimization. Your proactive approach will resolve supply chain issues before they impact production, fostering continuous improvement, reducing errors, and enhancing operational efficiency.

  • Oversee daily purchasing operations to support production schedules, MRP outputs, and inventory targets.
  • Oversee the end‑to‑end purchase‑to‑pay process carried out by operational buyers and other internal departments, including purchase order placement, logistics coordination, invoice handling, and final payment execution.
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of purchase orders for raw materials, components, indirect goods and services.
  • Collaborate with production planning, inventory control, and engineering teams to align procurement with manufacturing needs.
  • Maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure reliability, quality, and cost‑effectiveness.
  • Monitor supplier performance metrics (OTD, quality, responsiveness) and drive corrective actions and supplier development.
  • Support supplier audits, qualification, and compliance processes in collaboration with Quality Assurance and EHS.
  • Coordinate with warehouse, logistics, and receiving teams to manage inbound deliveries and resolve discrepancies.
  • Optimize inventory levels to balance cost and availability, minimizing stockouts, excess inventory, and production disruptions.
  • Implement and maintain procurement strategies for Just‑In‑Time (JIT), Kanban, and other lean manufacturing systems.
  • Track and report procurement KPIs such as cost savings, PO cycle time, supplier performance, and inventory turnover.
  • Prepare regular reports and dashboards for senior management and cross‑functional stakeholders.
  • Accountable for internal and external audits, risk assessments, and compliance related to procurement activities.
  • Coordinate with shipping, transportation, and warehousing teams to ensure efficient inbound flow and storage of goods.
  • Lead and develop a team of buyers and procurement specialists with a focus on manufacturing excellence.
  • Provide training, coaching, and performance feedback to ensure team effectiveness and alignment with operational goals.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, lean thinking, and operational excellence across procurement functions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business, Engineering, or related field.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., CIPS, CPSM, APICS) are highly desirable.
  • Minimum 5 years of procurement experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, BOMs, production planning, and MRP‑driven procurement.
  • Previous SAP experience is mandatory; familiarity with other ERP systems is a plus.
  • Excellent negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, production‑driven environment.
  • Expertise in Supplier Relationship Management, Inventory Optimization, Cost Analysis & Budgeting.
  • Strong grasp of Risk Management, Compliance, and Procurement Governance.
