Job Overview
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a strategic and results driven project management professional to join our team in the role of Senior Manager, Projects as part of our Wesleyville Nuclear Project. Reporting to the Director, Projects, the role will meet safety, quality, schedule, and cost performance through executing projects in accordance with the standards and processes defined for phase‑gating, integration management, scope management, schedule management, cost management, integrated change control, quality management, resource management, communications management, stakeholder management and reporting, risk management, estimating, and procurement/contract management.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead and coach a team capable of producing the required outputs and results; manage the staff and achieve the approved programs and targeted results, motivating and driving the outputs of teams.
- Set and manage team priorities and ensure projects are supported and executed.
- Coordinate work activities, and review and eliminate barriers to achieve results.
- Provide a safe and healthy work environment.
- Ensure that project costs are correctly allocated, controlled, and reported with timely project status reporting; close out projects with appropriate turnover documentation.
- Perform analysis on performance results and identify impacts on projects; implement appropriate earned value and forecasting methods with project reports.
- Identify and control all material changes to scope, schedule, and cost baselines and ensure changes are processed using integrated change control.
- Ensure safety, integration, scope management, schedule management, cost management, quality management, resource management, communications management, risk management, procurement/contract management and oversight are executed in accordance with the programs and standards established by the organization for projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Science or Business is an asset;
- Project Management Professional (PMP) designation, is considered an asset.
- Minimum 6‑8 years of progressive project management experience, with demonstrated experience in effectively delivering and managing high profile / large scale projects.
- Strong leadership skills with a minimum of 6 years of management experience required, where effectively lead, influence and motivate a large team of resources (direct staff, vendor resources, sub‑contractors, etc.).
- Ability to scope the early stages for a large‑scale project, including business case development and delivery of new build feasibility study.
- Strategic and analytical thinking, ability to assess options, trade‑offs, and value‑for‑money, evaluating delivery model for engineering and construction. Competencies in development of integrated schedule, critical path methods and scenario modelling.
- Competence in quantity take‑offs, reviewing, finalising class‑level estimates, cost benchmarking and life cycle cost assessment.
- Management of qualitative and quantitative risk assessments, contingency and confidence‑level analysis using Monte Carlo simulation.
- Financial & Commercial Acumen, cash flow modelling, economic analyses (NPV, IRR, ROI), understanding of procurement strategies.
- Previous experience working in or for a complex project similar to the size and scope of OPG, including experience executing project leadership and delivery strategies while providing advice directly with all levels of an organization including vendor and senior leadership.
- People orientated with strong interpersonal skills, adept at building and maintaining positive, productive and collaborative working relationships and partnerships externally and internally with a wide variety of stakeholders.
- Demonstrated solid judgement with a strong business acumen with proven track records of achieving success while providing valued input to a management team;
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Project and Outlook).
