The shift for the role is Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. However, this may be adjusted based on business needs which would require the time to be shifted slightly earlier or later.

DHL Express currently has an opening for an Operations Supervisor (PUD) in our facility located in Richmond, BC. We are looking for a high-potential leader who is ready to invest in building a team of motivated people. As the Operations Supervisor must be able to provide “hands-on” proactive management of the employees engaged in the daily export, clearance and transit of packages and freight, within prescribed standards of cost, efficiency, accuracy and on-time distribution. The Operations Supervisor implements new procedures to improve operational effectiveness and provides performance reports for management as required.
How will you contribute to the success of DHL?
Recruits, onboard and train new employees to be successful on the job;
Applies appropriate leadership/management style with open communication (i.e., communicates Corporate strategic plan, recognition of individual/team contributions) to motivate employees;
Ensures timely and accurate distribution of inbound and/or outgoing freight daily, in accordance with established global operational standards and procedures;
Addresses Customer complaints and escalated items in a professional, expedient manner;
Responsible for the performance management of all team members and follows progressive discipline for all employees under their direct supervision;
Actively contribute to a proactive safety program in compliance with legislative requirements and the collective agreement;
Establishes/implements productivity, quality and cost measurements & strategies to achieve desired operational results;
Plan and manages the schedules of employees on leave of absence, sick leave, vacation, etc. to ensure sufficient staffing needs to run operations;
Completes accurate and timely reports for management as required (staff schedules, attendance records, recruitment/ payroll documentation, dangerous goods incidents, WSB reports, etc.);
Implements & follows up on Customer Service solutions as determined by Sales resource team;
Ensures successful implementation & continued application of scanning technology for all drivers/warehouse employees;
Ensures warehouse is organized and set up for next shift;
Always maintains equipment in safe and efficient operating conditions;
Verify OO (Owner Operator) invoices to ensure billing accuracy and resolve discrepancies promptly.
Monitor courier performance and compliance, ensuring efficient dispatching and adherence to operational and service standards.
Collaborate closely with the debrief team to identify performance gaps and implement targeted improvement actions.
Drive cost‑control through the identification of savings opportunities and the implementation of effective cost‑management initiatives.
Monitor scanning compliance and ensure all related operational KPIs are met, including accuracy, timeliness, and service quality metrics.
Provide operational leadership and oversight to OO teams located in Kamloops and Kelowna, ensuring consistent performance and alignment with company expectations.
Enhance team engagement through effective communication, coaching, and development to build a motivated, high‑performing workforce.
Safety: Maintain a safe work environment by promoting safety standards, reporting and investigating safety incidents, ensuring corrective actions are completed, and supporting a strong safety culture.
Performs other assignments as required.
Do you have what it takes to be an Operations Supervisor?
3 years of experience in a supervisory or management position in a unionized environment (warehouse or logistics industry is an asset)
2 years of experience in fleet maintenance and fleet management
Working knowledge/interpretation of Collective Agreements & Occupational Health & Safety Act
Ability to make quick decisions and be agile to changing circumstances
Prior working experience with lean / process improvement initiatives
Must be able to work independently and collaborate as part of a team
Excellent interpersonal skills
Proven communication skills - written & oral
Demonstrated drive, initiative & flexibility to ensure task completion
Demonstrated time management & organization skills
College or University designation
Knowledge & compliance with Dangerous Goods
Experience working with Canada customs is an asset
Experience managing operations with components of aviation regulations is an asset
