Description
Deliverables:
- The Resources will act as a subject matter experts on a variety of Mainframe network maintenance and Mainframe hardware/software support and currency activities such as:
- Enabling and supporting the day to day operations of the Government of Ontario's Mainframe networks.
- Planning, configuring network components for the Z16 & support for DR CO-LO Mainframe processor, supporting the existing networks from GDC to CO-LO.
- Decommissioning of network software configurations and hardware as well as supporting the existing Applications hosted on the existing Mainframes.
Key Responsibilities:
- These positions will provide Operational Support for sustaining the day-to-day operations of Mainframe network.
- Plan, configure and support installation of new Mainframe hardware platform.
- Provide migration support for Mainframe networking components.
- Provide decommissioning support for Mainframe Network applications.
- Daily operational changes, Incident/problem management.
- Provide on call/standby support when required.
- Closure of tickets in a timely manner, Keeping clients/management up to date on ticket status.
- Must adhere to Service Level Agreement (SLA) metrics, device maintenance. Providing technical MOP's for all changes. ability to provide acquire network captures and articulate/document capture and point or root cause. Ability to work on Mainframe Software/Hardware Refresh Project activities along with all keep the lights on (KTLO) activities.
Evaluation Breakdown
1. Specific examples of technology experience - 30%
- TCP/IP, VTAM, NNM, NDM, AT-TLS between clients/servers/M.F., VPSPRINT, Deliver and TN3270. Daily operational changes, Incident/problem management.
- Provide on call/standby support when required.
- Closure of tickets in a timely manner, Keeping clients/management up to date on ticket status.
- Strong conceptual and practical understanding of Mainframe Networking.
- Building new infrastructure with automation as per design criteria.

- Demonstration of leading projects and initiatives end to end (technical and non-technical.
2. Demonstrated knowledge/skills in Communications and Customer Service - 10%
- Demonstrated experience of working with customers/key stakeholders and using communication skills to resolve operational issues, negotiate or document process related intelligence.
3. Demonstrated knowledge/skills in Analysis and Problem-Solving - 10%
- Ability to work on Mainframe hardware refresh Project Initiatives along with all KTLO and modernization activities.
- Daily usage of all local Mainframe Network Tools to provide proactive support (TCP/IP, NNM, NDM, VTAM, Netview).
- 4. Description of the most recent experience and demonstration of knowledge with Mainframe Network in a support role - 20%
- Demonstrated knowledge and operational support experience with Mainframe Network in a large scale environment similar as the Government of Ontario.
