The Sinclair Montney Development
Paramount has sanctioned development of its Montney natural gas play at Sinclair. The play is a high-rate, low-cost natural gas project in the Grande Prairie area. The first phase of development is designed for 50,000 boe/d, with construction beginning in 2026 and firm sales egress commencing in Q4 2027, this project represents a multi-decade cornerstone for the company.
About this Opportunity
We are seeking a Plant Foreman to develop and lead the Sinclair Operations team, reporting to the Regional Manager. This is a high-impact role that begins with a focused operational readiness phase based out of the Grande Prairie office, transitioning to site-based leadership at the Sinclair Gas Plant in mid-2027. You will be a key stakeholder in the development and execution of the Sinclair project. Your initial focus will be entirely on recruitment, project development, and operational readiness, ensuring the team is ready for successful commissioning.
The successful candidate will work on a 9/80 schedule (Monday-Friday, with every second Friday off), and reside in the Grande Prairie area.
Job functions and core responsibilities will include:
Pre-Startup Phase:
- Collaborate with the regional team to identify, hire, and mentor the core operations team for the Sinclair facility.
- Provide operational feedback to Engineering teams on plant design.
- Lead operational readiness activities, including the development of Operating Procedures, safety protocols, and PMs.
- Act as a lead member of the commissioning and startup team, overseeing PSSR (Pre-Startup Safety Review) signoffs and initial raw gas introduction.
Operational Phase:
- Direct day-to-day supervision of personnel in the Grande Prairie area to ensure business requirements and HSE standards are met.
- Guide staff in identifying and mitigating hazards, ensuring all operations are safe and environmentally responsible.
- Work directly with the Facility and Production Engineering Teams and Integrity SMEs
- for equipment design review and creating operating standards.
- Work with our Marketing group on production nominations.
- Place a high priority on HSE, maintenance, OPEX budget, and fiscal management.
- Support and initiate reviews of safe work practices, MOC implementation and execution, reporting and presenting Operations weekly updates.
- Incident reporting and investigation reviews, commissioning and start up activities with PSSR review and sign off, regulatory compliance checks, and monthly Leadership walkdowns.
- Provide leadership and assist with career development of personnel.
- Provide input to regional budget and support the production budget process.
- Promote adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Assertive in problem solving and decision making with respect to people, schedules, materials, and other general coordination items.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Minimum 10 years of oil and gas field operations experience, with previous experience as a Plant or Production Foreman
- Strong background in gas plant operations including sour gas processing, compression, amine sweetening, dehydration, and acid gas compression.
- Proven ability to build teams from scratch, solve complex problems, and manage emergency response.
- Experience in produced water treatment facilities is considered an asset.
- Good working knowledge of all Microsoft Office programs. Must be able to learn, adhere and work with all Paramount based software programs and processes.
- Self-starter and able to work independently with minimal supervision, time management and organizational effectiveness are critical to this position.
- Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Positive attitude and a sense of teamwork.
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- 3rd or 2nd Class Power Engineering certification is considered an asset.
- ICS training is considered an asset.
- Completed SAIT GPO / PFO industry training courses, or equivalent.
- Must possess a valid Class 5 Driver’s License, H2S Alive, and First Aid certifications.
Working Conditions
Schedule: 9/80 schedule (Monday-Friday, with every second Friday off).
Location: Candidates must reside in the Grande Prairie, AB area. The primary work location is the Grande Prairie office until mid-2027, including travel to the Sinclair site as required during the construction phase, with a full transition to the Sinclair Gas Plant following.
