Work environment
Parks Canada Agency is a federal government agency responsible for the protection and presentation of Canada’s natural and cultural resources through a system of national parks, national marine conservation areas and national historic sites in all regions of Canada. Parks Canada Agency’s Mandate: On behalf of the people of Canada, we protect and present nationally significant examples of Canada's natural and cultural heritage, and foster public understanding, appreciation and enjoyment in ways that ensure their ecological and commemorative integrity for present and future generations. The Jasper Field Unit is comprised of Jasper National Park and Fort St. James National Historic Site (NHS), with staff located in Jasper, Alberta and Fort St. James, British Columbia. The Field Unit Superintendent is located in Jasper. In addition to Fort St. James NHS, the Field Unit is also responsible for five other national historic sites located within Jasper National Park: The Jasper Park Information Centre NHS, Athabasca Pass NHS, Yellowhead Pass NHS, Jasper House NHS and the Maligne Lake Chalet and Guest House NHS.Due to the location of Parks Canada’s heritage places, we work with a wide diversity of Indigenous peoples across the country. Of the lands and waters in our care, more than three quarters of these are managed with the support of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. In recent decades, Parks Canada has worked hard to strengthen relationships with Indigenous partners. Our current approach, which views Indigenous peoples as partners in the management of Canada’s heritage places is reflected in all of the work we do, and is a shared responsibility of all Parks Canada team members.Diversity and inclusion have always been at the core of our values. Diverse teams bring different perspectives and creative ideas that benefit our clients, the communities we serve and all of us as colleagues. We welcome applications from individuals with diverse abilities and from all backgrounds and identities. Intent of the process
