Job Details Salary/Wage range: $85,280 - $128,96 Shift structure: Monday to Friday, 7.25 hours per day Primary location: Edmonton, CASA West Union: exempt FTE: 1.0 Status: Temporary until March 2027 Hybrid/Multi-site About the Role Reporting to the Director, Business Operations, the Manager, Quality and Risk, is responsible for leading the organization’s quality improvement and risk management practices.

The Manager, Quality and Risk, will: Provide leadership for the organization’s quality, risk and accreditation functions, ensuring alignment with CASA Mental Health’s strategic priorities, operational plans and values.

Lead accreditation, quality improvement and risk management work in a way that is supportive, transparent and focused on learning rather than blame.

Respond to and manage escalated concerns related to organizational risk, quality initiatives and accreditation readiness.

Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and establish risk management practices that strengthen outcomes for patients, families and employees.

Support leaders and teams in understanding and meeting their quality, risk and accreditation responsibilities.

Represent CASA in interactions with internal and external bodies, including CASA’s board of directors, Accreditation Canada, auditors, inspectors and other oversight or regulatory organizations.

Provide leadership during periods of change, supporting teams through transitions with clarity, consistency and empathy.

Implement organization-wide initiatives related to quality improvement, risk management and accreditation as required.

Chair CASA’s Accreditation Council and keep senior leadership appraised of survey results, council accountabilities and action items as needed.

Provide leadership for CASA’s enterprise risk management framework, ensuring alignment with organizational strategy, operational priorities and CASA’s values.

Lead the identification, assessment and monitoring of CASA’s risk universe.

Support leaders in developing, implementing and monitoring risk mitigation strategies, and action plans.

Prepare and present risk reports, trend analyses and recommendations for senior leadership and governance.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge and/or experience with the health care accreditation process.

Knowledge and understanding of data analysis, measurement and reporting.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Strong education, instruction and presentation skills.

Knowledge of adult learning principles is an asset.

Ability to build and maintain trusting working relationships with internal and external partners.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.

Strong time management skills including the ability to prioritize competing work demands in a fast-paced and collaborative health care environment.

Excellent attention to detail in all aspects of work.

Eager to learn and coachable.

Demonstrated systems thinker, with keen interest in continuous improvement, at micro and macro level.

Adaptability and flexibility in fluid contexts and situations.

Qualifications and Experience A bachelor’s degree in business, health or health sciences, nursing or quality improvement is required.

Canadian Risk Management (CRM) training and certification is required.

Significant related experience and training may be considered on a one for one basis in lieu of education.

  • · A minimum of two years supervising quality improvement initiatives in a mental health setting.

A minimum of five years of experience implementing and managing organizational change and quality improvement initiatives.

A comparable combination of education and experience will also be considered.

Experience in a health care environment (hospital, community-based or equivalent) is required, with experience in mental health treatment settings a strong asset.

Master of science or a master’s degree in a health-related field (e.g., public health, social sciences, health sciences) is an asset.

Formal training and/or certification in risk management, change management and quality-related is an asset.

Experience in project management and continuous improvement tools like Lean is an asset.

Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) training and certification is an asset.

Conditions of Employment A satisfactory Criminal Records Check.

This would be the financial responsibility of the successful candidate.

Working Conditions May be required to travel and must hold a Class 5 Driver’s License and have access to a vehicle.

Ability to sit for long periods of time.
