We have an opportunity for an innovative forward thinking full-time Engineer, Operations Technology, to support the digital transformation of our container terminal reporting to the Manager, Operations Technology. This role blends equipment connectivity, real time operational data and intuitive user interfaces to drive efficiency, reliability and performance across our terminal operations. The successful candidate will focus on leveraging technology to optimize container handling, yard planning and equipment utilization while maintaining secure, high availability systems by working with IT, Engineering, Maintenance, and Operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Design, Deployment and Maintenance of Operations Technology
- Implement OT capital projects, including factory inspections and design reviews
- Work with the Cyber Security Team to continuously evaluate cyber security risks within operations technology systems and implement scheduled updates and patching where applicable as well as other risk mitigation strategies
- Work with Maintenance to improve tools and systems required to provide equipment reliability and predictability including investigation into emerging technologies such as AI
- Partner with IT to ensure secure, high availability infrastructure for hardware and operational systems including TOS interfaces to Equipment work order systems and adopt architectural best practices to mirror IT methodologies.
- Align design concepts and capital projects with Engineering and Facilities for new equipment including integration of data and sensors into SCADA and OT or Automation Systems
- Integrate systems for equipment connectivity to capture and analyze real time operational data
- Support Operations in enhancing terminal efficiency through data driven decision making and system and equipment automation
- Provide technical expertise and advanced troubleshooting where appropriate in OT and Automation Systems
- Continuous improvement though self-learning and external training courses.
- Investigate and stay informed on emerging technologies, equipment automation, IIOT solutions, industry best practices and build long term roadmaps for commonality and synergy of equipment and systems to enhance terminal performance

- Working knowledge of CLC, ESDC, WorkSafe BC, environmental and government regulations as it relates to employee and company compliance; personal safety, and WHMIS.
- Experience working within unionized environments is an asset.
- The ability to work at either of our two Lower Mainland terminal locations or Head Office.
These capabilities have typically been developed through the completion of a post-secondary Degree or Diploma in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Computer Science or Control Systems Education; or an equivalent combination of education, operations training and experience in a related discipline.
