Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical/controls/automation, Manufacturing, or Welding Engineering. Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or eligibility is preferred.
Minimum 7–10 years of experience in industrial controls, robotics and automation in heavy manufacturing.
Must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and Secret clearance.
Technical Expertise:
Demonstrated experience with welding processes (including weld distortion control), Plasma/laser/oxy-fuel cutting systems, forming and fabrication operations, welding automation and robotic systems, and robot programming/process integration.
Proven experience developing layouts, automation concepts, and production line designs.
Strong background in cost analysis, feasibility studies, and capital justification for automation projects.
Deep technical knowledge of manufacturing processes and automation technologies.
Strong knowledge of industrial network protocols (e.g., Ethernet/IP, ProfiNet, Modbus/TCP, and OPC-UA).
Familiarity with VFDs, PID Loops, and a variety of Instrumentation.
Proficient in interpreting, using, and developing P&IDs, datasheets, and specifications.
Strong knowledge and experience of PLCs and programming languages (Siemens, Rockwell, Schneider and ABB).
Knowledge of CSA, ISA, and IEEE standards, including the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC 22.1).
Proficiency with AutoCAD or similar layout/design tools.
Physically capable of working in an industrial shipyard setting.
