About the Role
A leading regional healthcare organization in Northern Ontario is seeking Medical Radiation Technologists (Nuclear Medicine) to join a progressive and well-resourced Nuclear Medicine team. This role offers exposure to a diverse and complex caseload, advanced imaging technology, and a collaborative clinical environment focused on patient-centered care.
The Nuclear Medicine department is one of the largest in the region and features:
- Multiple gamma cameras
- Bone density imaging
- Dedicated PET services
- Multiple hot labs
- Modern, spacious facilities designed for optimal patient flow
New for 2026: Two state-of-the-art gamma cameras will be installed, including a StarGuide system and an 870 CZT system, further enhancing diagnostic capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform a full range of diagnostic and therapeutic Nuclear Medicine procedures, including Nuclear Cardiology, SPECT/CT, PET/CT, and Bone Mineral Density exams
- Deliver safe, timely, and high-quality patient care while optimizing equipment utilization
- Obtain informed consent and verify patient history
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation
- Coordinate daily workflow, including emergency and add-on cases
- Adhere to radiation safety legislation, policies, and best practices
- Perform radiopharmacy and quality control procedures
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate service support
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams
- Support student education and clinical evaluations
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, education, and health & safety training
Education & Certification
- Minimum 3-year Advanced Diploma in Molecular Imaging from an accredited institution
- Current CMRITO registration in good standing (required)
- CAMRT registration (preferred)
- Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) certification (preferred)
- Ministry of Labour Worker Health & Safety Awareness certification (required)
Experience
- Recent experience in a Nuclear Medicine healthcare setting is considered an asset
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong knowledge of SPECT/CT, PET/CT, Nuclear Cardiology, Bone Densitometry, and Radiopharmacy
- Solid understanding of radiation safety legislation and infection prevention practices
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with clinical systems and Microsoft Office
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
Additional Requirements
- Successful completion of a Vulnerable Sector Check
- Ability to adapt to new technologies and evolving clinical practices
- Commitment to patient safety, professionalism, and continuous learning
- Ability to meet the physical and sensory demands of the role
- Ability to travel between local sites as required
