Job description

Job Description:
  • The FinOps Consultant is responsible for defining and executing cloud financial management strategies to optimize cloud spend, governance, and operational efficiency.
  • This role partners with finance, engineering, and product teams to implement FinOps best practices, drive cost transparency, and improve financial accountability across cloud environments.
Role Highlights:

  • Establish governance frameworks and implement FinOps best practices.
  • Lead and mentor a high-performing FinOps team.
  • Collaborate with finance, engineering, and product teams to drive cost optimization initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct FinOps training and onboarding sessions for various stakeholders.
  • Support customer onboarding and adoption of the FinOps platform.
  • Identify and communicate dependencies across stakeholders.
  • Gather and document Cloud FinOps requirements with customers.
  • Assess existing reports and cloud spend data.
  • Review historical bills, invoices, and cloud purchases.
  • Analyze current cloud utilization across services.
  • Conduct periodic performance reviews to optimize cloud consumption.
  • Deliver showback and chargeback reports using FinOps tools.
  • Monitor and flag cost anomalies, suspicious spikes, and configure budget alerts.
  • Define and implement scheduling and optimization rules based on customer needs.
  • Provide recommendations for showback and chargeback models and business unit integrations.
  • Define and implement public cloud governance policies related to FinOps.
  • Track optimization recommendations and initiatives.
  • Identify quick wins and develop roadmap and platform recommendations with supporting business cases.
  • Implement cost allocation strategies including tagging, hierarchy, metadata, and shared cost models.
  • Implement environment hygiene and cloud best practices.
  • Track cloud consumption and perform spend forecasting.
  • Perform budget management and anomaly detection.
  • Utilize cloud policy governance tools, third-party tools, and custom dashboards for cost visibility.
  • Proactively monitor cloud usage patterns and prevent cost overruns.
  • Support capacity planning and cloud operations within large-scale SaaS environments.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in FinOps and cloud financial management.
  • Experience as a FinOps Solution Architect with automation expertise.
  • Strong experience with cloud computing platforms including AWS and Azure.
  • Experience with cloud cost management tools such as Cloudability, CloudHealth, or similar platforms.
  • Experience with cloud native technologies including Kubernetes, Prometheus, and OpenCost.
  • Strong experience in capacity planning or cloud operations in large-scale SaaS environments.
  • Expertise in data analysis and modeling methodologies for capacity forecasting.
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Active involvement in the FinOps Community or similar industry groups preferred.
