Senior Software Developer - Full Stack

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Developer - Full Stack specializing in Java and Angular to lead the design, re-platforming, and delivery of a modern operational reporting portal. In this role, you will take ownership of full-stack technical delivery, reverse engineering legacy reporting logic, SQL queries, and data transformation rules into clean, supportable web components. Hosted in a cloud Azure environment, you will build secure RESTful APIs, develop responsive front-end interfaces compliant with accessibility standards, and ensure smooth integration within continuous deployment pipelines.

Location: Toronto, ON (Fully Onsite)

Duration: 6-month contract.

Responsibilities
Lead the end-to-end design, construction, and deployment of modern, responsive web application components using Java for the backend and Angular for the front end.

Reverse engineer, refactor, and re-platform legacy report layouts, underlying SQL queries, and data transformation rules into modern database structures.

Design, build, version, and document REST API services exposing report and reference data to seamlessly connect front-end components with relational databases.

Write fully commented, production-ready source code, unit test suites, and automated UI test coverage, managing code versioning within Azure DevOps.

Collaborate in an Agile/Scrum environment with cross-functional IT professionals, architects, and business stakeholders to translate business priorities into technical specifications.

Deploy, maintain, and support application components in a Microsoft Azure environment while integrating with established CI/CD pipelines.

Ensure all web interfaces conform strictly to AODA accessibility regulations and modern web performance standards.

Conduct knowledge transfer sessions and produce technical documentation, API runbooks, and system architecture guides for technical staff.



Qualifications
Backend Java Development: 8+ years of experience developing large-scale, production business applications using Java for backend and REST API development (Strictly Required).

Front-End Angular Proficiency: 5+ years of hands-on experience using Angular (or comparable modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks) for front-end interface development (Strictly Required).

Legacy Logic Re-Platforming: Proven ability to reverse engineer, refactor, and re-platform existing report and query logic (e.g., WebFOCUS or equivalent BI tools) into modern SQL/Java applications (Strictly Required).

Relational Database & SQL Expertise: Strong experience with database design, deployment, relational database technologies, and advanced SQL query optimization (Strictly Required).

Azure & API Engineering: Proven experience designing, building, and documenting REST API services, deploying applications in a Microsoft Azure cloud environment, and working with Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines (Strictly Required).

Agile Seniority: 5+ years of experience delivering software in Agile/Scrum environments with minimal supervision (Strictly Required).

Nice-to-Have Assets:
Prior exposure to or working knowledge of legacy WebFOCUS frameworks, Power BI, or Databricks.

Practical experience working within public sector IT environments and applying AODA web accessibility standards.
