Position Summary

Plant Operator, Branson Plant Operations:
Your goal in this role is to be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the mechanical systems that fall under the scope of the Engineering Department. This position supports the hospital’s academic mandate by advancing care through teaching and learning and/or transforming care through research and innovation. This position supports the Hospital’s academic mandate by advancing care through teaching and learning and/or transforming care through research and innovation. This position contributes to the shared responsibility of ensuring health and safety policies are followed to provide for a healthy environment for staff, physicians, volunteers , learners, patients and families.

On a practical level, you will

• Adjust and set all temperatures for the HVAC systems
• Assume responsibility for the safe and proper isolation of all heating/cooling equipment for contractors/maintenance personnel
• Ensure proper winterizing of equipment to prevent damage
• Maintain and inspect all fans and exhaust systems
• Inspect and maintain the various pumps associated with the Dept
• Perform water tests on both the cooling and heating systems
• Maintain all equipment as outlined in the preventative maintenance program
• Responsible for monitoring and troubleshooting the Medical Gas Systems (Nitrous Oxide, Nitrogen, Medical Air, Medical Vacuum)
• Operate low pressure steam boilers safely and efficiently
• Respond to all building related issues
• Perform mechanical repairs on pumps, valves, piping etc
• Perform plumbing repairs to domestic hot and cold water systems

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of experience with building systems (e.g. plan operations, HVAC, plumbing, electrical etc.) and energy management systems
• Working knowledge of general maintenance, life safety systems and emergency procedure preferred
• Familiarity with building automation and energy management systems
• Stationary Engineer Third or Fourth Class preferred
• 1 year experience in a hospital setting
• Computer experience
• Mechanical aptitude
• Bilingualism in French/English is an asset
