Job Overview
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Cloud Solutions Architect. Reporting to the Senior Manager, IT Services, this position is responsible for representing the cloud platform services teams to lead architectural and solutioning decisions, with their partners in the enterprise architecture teams, leveraging broad technical expertise across networking, Azure (including landing zones), Kubernetes, on‑prem compute, Hyper‑V clusters, storage solutions, and infrastructure engineering—supported by a technical development background, programming skills (asset), and strong road‑mapping capabilities.
Key Accountabilities
- Collaborate closely with cloud platform services teams to support enterprise‑wide architecture initiatives.
- Lead architectural and solutioning decisions, ensuring scalable and secure cloud‑integrated designs.
- Apply broad technical expertise across networking, Azure services, and on‑prem compute environments.
- Utilize deep knowledge of Azure offerings, including Landing Zones and Kubernetes related services.
- Support infrastructure built on Hyper‑V clusters and modern storage solutions.
- Leverage networking experience as an asset to complement cloud architecture responsibilities.
- Draw on a technical development and infrastructure engineering background to guide design decisions.
- Develop and maintain technology roadmaps to align cloud architecture with business and IT strategy.
Qualifications
- 4-Year University education in either Computer Science, Information Systems or IT related field
- Over 8 years experience working in designing and implementing scalable, cloud‑integrated systems, leading enterprise architecture in complex IT environments, aligning business and technology strategy, and mentoring architecture staff
- Proven experience collaborating with cloud platform services teams to support enterprise‑level architectural initiatives.
- Demonstrated ability to lead architectural and solution design decisions in complex IT environments.
- Advanced technical proficiency across Azure services, Kubernetes, networking fundamentals, and on‑prem compute infrastructure.
- Hands‑on experience with Hyper‑V clusters, storage solutions, and broader infrastructure engineering.
- Background in software development or programming, enabling effective technical decision‑making (programming considered an asset).
- Strong capability in developing and maintaining technology roadmaps that align with organizational strategy.
