As an expert electronics lab technician, you will be essential in the hands‑on building, testing, and prototyping of core electrical components for our Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). Your proven expertise in surface mount soldering, PCB rework, and harness building will be critical in accelerating our product development and directly supporting our mission to provide clean, reliable, and affordable power. This is a crucial role for a self‑starter who thrives in a hands‑on, fast‑paced cleantech environment.

The Role

  • Pay: $25 - $35 per hour
  • Location: In‑person, Moment Energy Coquitlam Office
  • Benefits:
    • 3 weeks paid vacation plus 1 week off between Christmas and New Year's
    • Extended health, dental, and vision benefits plan
    • RRSP matching
    • Regular company socials, events and weekly fitness and yoga
    • Free electric vehicle charging
    • Open and collaborative company culture!

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Perform surface mount and through‑hole soldering, assembly, and rework for R&D printed circuit board (PCB) prototypes.
  • Design, build, and troubleshoot custom electrical wiring harnesses and cable assemblies to support BESS, electronics, and lab testing setups.
  • Assist the Electrical Engineering team in the creation of prototypes and test fixtures for new BESS and electronic designs.
  • Maintain, organize, and ensure the safety of the R&D electrical lab, tools, and inventory.
  • Create and maintain basic technical documentation, including detailed assembly instructions, and lab operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Collaborate with electrical and mechanical engineers to ensure seamless integration of hardware during the prototyping phase.

The Candidate

We’re looking for individuals with the following traits, skills, and experiences:

  • 3+ years of hands‑on experience as an electronics, R&D, or other relatable technician trade.
  • Demonstrated expert proficiency in surface mount technology soldering, repair, and rework.
  • Proven experience in building and troubleshooting custom electrical wiring harnesses and cable assemblies using appropriate crimping and tooling techniques.
  • Experience reading and interpreting electrical schematics, assembly drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Foundational understanding of basic electrical engineering principles and lab safety practices.

Nice-to-Have Experience:

  • Experience with BESS or lithium‑ion battery applications.
  • Experience operating and maintaining power test equipment (e.g., power supplies, electronic loads, oscilloscopes, DMMs).
  • Experience working in a fast‑paced startup environment.

Why join us?

  • Be part of a mission‑driven company focused on creating sustainable energy solutions and making a positive impact on the world.
  • Collaborate closely with passionate co‑founders and a team committed to innovation and excellence.
  • Contribute to building and scaling a company from the ground up, where your work will have a direct and meaningful impact.
  • Enjoy a dynamic, fast‑paced work environment where every day brings new challenges and opportunities to grow.
  • Thrive in a workplace that values collaboration, wellness, and celebrating successes, with regular company socials, fitness sessions, and more.
