WHO WE ARE

ONE KIDS PLACE Children’s Treatment Centre provides rehabilitation and related support services for children and youth (up to the age of 19) and their families living in the Districts of Muskoka, Nipissing and Parry Sound. All staff will provide service within an interdisciplinary team environment committed to family-centered practice.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Location: Huntsville

Effective: January 12, 2026 - June 25, 2027

Status: Unionized

Job type: Contract Full Time – 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM

*To ensure we can meet the needs of our communities at times that work best for them, our staff are expected to maintain flexibility in their schedules, which may include working outside standard business hours as per client needs.*

POSITION SUMMARY

The Physiotherapist provides assessment, consultation, clinical diagnosis and treatment planning to assist children and youth to achieve their optimum rehabilitation potential in all areas of physical function including the prevention/delay of physical dysfunction and injury. Note that supervision of therapy assistants and family education are important components of the position.

JOB DUTIES

  • Reports directly to the designated Manager for overall direction and supervision.
  • Provides quality family-centred care through assessment, establishing a clinical diagnosis and treatment programs to assist children/youth in achieving their maximal functional ability.
  • Documents client-related activities and workload practices according to Children’s Treatment Centre and College standards.
  • Utilizes therapeutic techniques/modalities as necessary in the provision of therapy and maintains client confidentiality and privacy.
  • Communicates effectively and ensures continuity of care by making treatment decisions in close collaboration with the child/youth/family, other rehabilitation staff and other community service providers as part of an inter-disciplinary team.
  • Educates the child/youth, family and other caregivers in the condition/disease process and specific treatment/intervention suggestions to ensure appropriate follow-through of daily activities and programs. The focus may be prevention, maintenance and/or treatment for the child/youth and family.
  • Provides clinical supervision within the discipline’s scope of practice to designated support personnel and/or placement students.
  • Provides equipment recommendations / prescriptions and/or refers children/youth to appropriate services.
  • Acts as a resource/educator for the children/youth, families, staff, students, professionals and communities through the facilitation, development and implementation of education programs.
  • Participates in the orientation and training of new staff members, placement students and/or volunteers.
  • Pursues on-going professional development and growth.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Masters Degree in Physiotherapy
  • Current registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario
  • 2 years recent related work experience in a pediatric/health care setting with children and youth with special needs
  • Working knowledge of community resources and supports within the Districts of Muskoka, Nipissing and Parry Sound
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills/Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Valid Ontario driver’s license and reliable vehicle
  • Computer competency and adaptable in the use of computer software for the purpose of assessments, documentation, programming and communication.
  • Good attendance/Work Record
  • Bilingualism (English/French)/ADP authorizer are preferred
  • Proof of COVID Vaccinations as required by the sector

COMPENSATION

$39.54 - $49.40 hourly (depending on prior experience as per our Collective Agreement).

SOMMAIRE DU POSTE

Le physiothérapeute offre des services d’évaluation, de consultation, de diagnostic clinique et de planification du traitement afin d’aider les enfants et les jeunes à bénéficier d’une réadaptation optimale dans tous les domaines des capacités physiques, y compris la prévention ou le report des dysfonctionnements physiques et des blessures. Le ou la titulaire du poste supervise le travail d’assistants en thérapie et offre de la formation aux familles.

FONCTIONS DU POSTE

  • Relève directement du responsable désigné pour la direction et la supervision générales.
  • Offre des soins de qualité axés sur la famille grâce à une évaluation, l'établissement d'un diagnostic clinique et des programmes de traitement visant à aider les enfants et les jeunes à atteindre leur capacité fonctionnelle maximale.
  • Documente les activités liées aux clients et les pratiques de charge de travail conformément aux normes du Centre de traitement pour enfants et du Collège.
  • Utilise les techniques/modalités thérapeutiques nécessaires dans le cadre de la thérapie et maintient la confidentialité et la vie privée du client.
  • Communique efficacement et assure la continuité des soins en prenant des décisions de traitement en étroite collaboration avec l'enfant/le jeune/la famille, les autres membres du personnel de réadaptation et les autres fournisseurs de services communautaires dans le cadre d'une équipe interdisciplinaire.
  • Sensibilise l'enfant/le jeune, sa famille et les autres personnes qui en prennent soin à la maladie/à l'évolution de celle-ci, ainsi qu'aux suggestions de traitement/intervention spécifiques, afin d'assurer le bon déroulement des activités et programmes quotidiens. L'accent peut être mis sur la prévention, le maintien et/ou le traitement de l'enfant/du jeune et de sa famille.
  • Assure la supervision clinique, dans le cadre de la pratique de la discipline, du personnel de soutien désigné et/ou des étudiants en stage.
  • Fournit des recommandations/prescriptions d'équipement et/ou oriente les enfants/jeunes vers les services appropriés.
  • Agit comme ressource/éducateur auprès des enfants/jeunes, des familles, du personnel, des étudiants, des professionnels et des communautés par le biais de la facilitation, du développement et de la mise en œuvre de programmes éducatifs.
  • Participe à l'accueil et à la formation des nouveaux membres du personnel, des étudiants en stage et/ou des bénévoles.
  • Poursuit un développement et une progression professionnels continus.
  • Autres tâches assignées.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master en physiothérapie
  • Inscription en règle auprès de l’Ordre des physiothérapeutes de l’Ontario
  • Deux années d’expérience de travail pertinente dans un contexte pédiatrique ou de soins de santé, auprès des enfants et des jeunes ayant des besoins particuliers
  • Connaissance pratique des ressources et des soutiens communautaires dans les districts de Muskoka, Nipissing et Parry Sound
  • Excellentes compétences de relations interpersonnelles, d’organisation et de communication verbale et écrite
  • Permis de conduire de l’Ontario en vigueur et véhicule fiable
  • Maîtrise de l’utilisation de logiciels et capacité de s’adapter pour effectuer des évaluations, préparer des documents, effectuer de la programmation et communiquer.
  • Bons antécédents professionnels et assiduité au travail
  • Le bilinguisme (français/anglais) et le statut d’autorisateur du PAAF sont préféré
