Island Health’s Department of Cardiology has an opportunity for a full-time Cardiologist with Cardiac Device implant specialty training to join an existing team at NRGH. The successful candidate will work alongside a dedicated group of cardiac internists and intensivists to establish a Heart Health Division in Nanaimo, which will be part of the well-established 20-member Division of Cardiology in Victoria.

Eligible applicants must hold Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada certification in Cardiology and demonstrate competency in all aspects of cardiology. Responsibilities include coverage of both the coronary care unit and cardiology wards. On-call duties are for Cardiology on Call coverage only. The role involves device implantation and clinical oversight/management of patients in the local Pacemaker Clinic. Additional training in device management can be provided through the affiliated electrophysiology and device management group at the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria.

Academic affiliation and teaching opportunities are available through the University of British Columbia, Island Medical Program, offering a rich environment for learners from medical students to fellows.
