INSTALL TECHNICIAN — Toronto, ON
The Big Task
As a Line/ Install Technician, you will be responsible for replacing and lining residential sewer lines. You must be a self-starter who is able to work independently, maintain a positive work atmosphere, and effectively communicate with our customers. You will install and inspect new liners, new sections of sewer line and inform customer of the process.
What You’ll Do
- Cutting pipe, lowering pipe into trenches and performing manual labour when required
- Assisting in aligning pipes during water main and sewer construction
- Loading and unloading tools, materials and equipment
- Operating industrial equipment and hand tools
- Lifting and transporting plywood and air struts
- Digging around pipe and/or utilities
- Rolling pump hoses, operating pneumatic hammers, vibrators, and tampers as directed
- Rig up chains and straps to transfer manhole material
- Maintaining communication with dispatch, your manager, parts and installation teams
- Keeping company truck clean, inside and out
- Keeping truck inventory and liner inventory up to date
- Completing all relevant paperwork
- Joining the on-call rotation
- Fabricating liners to spec
- Using proper material and equipment to fully protect customers property and home
- Operating camera equipment/locating any wye connections in system
- Accurately locating sewer line
- Taking detailed measurements
- Maintaining and servicing lining equipment
- Ensuring health and safety policies and company policies are adhered to
- Performing all job functions in a safe and healthful manner, abiding by all health and safety rules and regulations
- Other tasks as assigned
What Makes YOU Great
- Valid driver’s license with clean driver’s abstract (required)
- Prior industry experience is considered an asset
- Basic understanding of PVC pipe installation and joint sealing with glue
- The ability to understand and read underground plans and specifications would be an asset
- Basic understanding of grade, slope elevations and operations of grade equipment
- Capability to hand-digging and grading trenches
- You are a great communicator and are able to connect and build positive relationships with customers and your team
- You are a hard worker who is persistent about finding solutions
- You demonstrate a positive attitude and are willing to learn and grow
- Ability to be available on call during weekends and on holidays as required
