Position
Surrey Schools is seeking to fill a vacancy in our HVAC/mechanical team. Whether you’re an experienced HVAC tradesperson seeking work-life balance or a new graduate with experience in a variety of HVAC systems, we invite you to apply. Reporting to the Manager of Mechanical Maintenance within the Facilities Division, the HVAC/Mechanical Tradesperson is responsible for a variety of projects including renovations, repairs and new installations in over 140 school district sites and offices. The successful applicant must be a team-player ready to be part of a cohesive, effective team of professionals in this busy department of A & B Gasfitters, Plumbers, HVACR Mechanics, who hold great pride in their work. The department requires applicants to be prepared to work effectively in a small team as well as independently to complete top quality work in various District facilities. Experience and training in institutional facilities is a bonus.
Responsibilities
• Work within the HVAC/mechanical team on projects including renovations, repairs and new installations across district sites and offices. • Collaborate in a small team or independently to deliver high-quality mechanical work. • Maintain readiness to operate in a fast-paced institutional environment. (Note: specific project-focused duties align with the department’s needs.)
Qualifications
- BCTQ in an applicable trade ideally Millwright, Gas Fitter or Refrigeration or other trade supplemented with experience in a variety of HVAC/Mechanical work
- Must hold a Class “B” Gas Ticket (bonus if you hold a Class “A” ticket or an electrical endorsement)
- Knowledge of direct digital control (DDC)
- A valid Class 5 BC Driver’s license
- Sufficient physical strength and health to perform the duties of the position
Compensation and Benefits
This is a unionized position that offers an hourly wage rate of $40.65 plus benefits package: municipal pension, health, vacation & sick benefits. Effective date per collective agreement.
