Job description

The Thomas Family is seeking a professional and dedicated Nanny to care for our 19-month-old child in our home in Springwater, ON. We are looking for a reliable individual passionate about early childhood development and committed to a safe, nurturing environment.

Schedule & Setting :

  • Hours : 40.00 hours per week.
  • Shifts : Includes early morning shifts starting at 5 : 30 AM, as well as morning and day shifts as scheduled.
  • Work setting : Private household; rural area.
  • Accommodation : Optional live-in accommodation available at no charge. (Note : This is NOT a condition of employment).

Responsibilities (Tasks) :

  • Change diapers
  • Follow parents’ lead with toilet training
  • Sterilize bottles and prepare formulas
  • Assume full responsibility for household in absence of parents
  • Perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties
  • Bathe, dress and feed infants and children
  • Discipline children according to the methods requested by the parents
  • Instruct children in personal hygiene and social development
  • Keep records of daily activities and health information regarding children
  • Maintain a safe and healthy environment in the home
  • Organize activities such as games and outings for children
  • Prepare and serve nutritious meals
  • Prepare infants and children for rest periods
  • Supervise and care for children
  • Tend to emotional well-being of children

Qualifications & Requirements :

  • Education : Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • Experience : 1 year to less than 2 years of professional childcare experience.
  • Credentials : CPR and First Aid Certificate (Emergency child care).
  • Security : Criminal record check, Vulnerable sector check, Driving record check (abstract), and References required.
  • Physical : Physically demanding; weight handling up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
  • Transportation : Valid Driver’s Licence and access to a vehicle are required. (Public transportation is not available for a 5 : 30 AM start in this rural area).

  • Vacation : 10 business days (2 weeks) of paid vacation time per year.
  • Vacation Pay : 4% of gross wages.
  • Parking : Free on-site parking available.
  • Housing : On-site housing options available. (Optional live-in accommodation at no charge; not a condition of employment).
  • Learning & Development : Learning / training paid by employer (we invest in ongoing childcare and safety training).
