Senior Staff Accountant – Public Accounting (Hamilton Region)
Looking for a stable mid‑sized firm where you can grow your assurance career without the long hours and constant turnover? This opportunity is with a long‑established firm in the Hamilton region that supports privately owned businesses and NPOs. They’re adding a Senior Staff Accountant who wants meaningful work, mentorship, and long‑term stability in a genuinely supportive environment.
The Role
We’re looking for a Senior Staff Accountant who:
- Leads and prepares audit, review, and compilation engagements
- Manages file budgets, timelines, and professional standards
- Communicates directly with clients and external stakeholders
- Identifies issues early and proposes practical solutions
- Mentors junior staff and contributes to internal training
- Enjoys a mix of technical assurance work and client‑facing responsibilities
Must‑Haves
- CPA designation or actively pursuing CPA
- 3+ years of public accounting experience
- Strong understanding of ASPE (NPO experience an asset)
- Experience with Caseware, TaxPrep (or similar), Sage/QuickBooks
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities with a high attention to detail
