ABOUT THE POSITION

Nahanni Construction Ltd. is accepting resumes for Carpenters to work at our Foran McIlvenna Bay Mine project site. The successful candidates will work on a rotational schedule in a remote work camp environment.

SCOPE

• Building forms and stripping forms.
• Operating hand tools and power-actuated tools.
• Installing heating/hoarding, temporary fencing, guardrails, handrails, and barriers as required.
• Participating in daily toolbox talks.
• Reviewing and preparing daily Field Level Hazard Assessments.
• Participating in weekly safety meetings.
• Advising supervision of unsafe conditions or acts that may be dangerous to oneself and other workers.
• Read, interpret, and act on instructions from supervision.
• Prepare layout, including selecting materials, planning sequences, and work methods.
• Installing shoring.
• Ensuring tools and equipment are returned to job boxes and tool cribs.
• Report all incidents/accidents, including “near misses.”
• Scaffold and access build.

REQUIREMENTS

• Red Seal Journeyperson Carpenter or completion of vocational school.
• Two years’ experience as a Journeyperson Carpenter is required.
• Industrial construction experience would be an asset.
• Ability to lift up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
• Ability to learn quickly and keep up with tight schedules.
• Flexible and adaptable to change.
• Strong organization and communication skills.
• Able to complete physically demanding work with significant periods of standing and kneeling.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

• Nahanni is an open-shop Contractor that provides competitive pay and benefits. Compensation is dependent on experience.
• Nahanni pays for, and books travel to and from the project site. In addition, employees are entitled to a rotational travel allowance.
