This position has oversight of a specific area and acts as a representative of the department ensuring technical accuracy in project execution in all phases. This role has the responsibility to promote Fluor’s competitiveness within the global marketplace by delivering quality services of unmatched value and technical competence. This position serves as an Architectural Area Lead or Lead on assigned projects or performs complex architectural assignments, evaluates, selects and applies advanced architectural techniques to a broad set of complex assignments. Job responsibilities: • Apply Cost Competitive Execution techniques to develop the most cost-effective total project solution for execution of the discipline engineering work • Develop and review specifications, including design criteria • Participate in activities associated with equipment and material procurement, permitting, and subcontracting • Perform and check calculations, specify equipment, and solve problems of moderate or complex engineering problems. Should be able to demonstrate basic understanding of structural behavior and design principles. • Review vendor equipment documentation within the discipline and from other disciplines for compliance with project requirements, and actively seek discrepancy resolution • Analyze and make independent recommendations regarding solutions to problems with varying complexity in accordance with organization and/or project objectives and guidelines • Indicate strong technical interests and background with structural engineering subjects such as design of large structural steel and concrete structures including heavy foundations, seismic engineering, and dynamic analysis of structures supporting vibrating equipment. • Capable to undertake structural engineering work related to resource project development and construction, in one or more of the following areas: • Performing hand and computer calculations for foundations, concrete, and steel structures • Analyzing complex structures , • Wind and seismic loading in structural calculations (structural) • Dynamic analysis and design (structural) • Computer modeling and analysis (structural) • Procurement and construction aspects of engineering • Vendor drawing review, intergroup review – squad checking • Engineering and fabricator drawing checking • Managing and leading a small project **Basic Job Requirements** • Accredited two (2) year diploma or global equivalent in applicable field of study and sixteen (16) years of work-related experience or a combination of education and directly related experience equal to twenty (20) years if no diploma; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements • Advanced knowledge of discipline codes and standards, commercial availability and cost of materials, means and methods of construction • Effort-hour estimating and staff forecasting • EPCM Experience in Medium to Large-Scale Projects • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors • Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines • Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner • Planning and project execution skills • Ability/experience of preparing Architectural design criteria and specifications. • Ability/experience of preparing scope of work to support building request for quote (RFQ) purchase order (PO). • Ability/experience of technical bid evaluation (TBE) of building bids • Ability/experience of managing building PO’s **Other Job Requirements** **Preferred Qualifications** • Managing and leading a large project • Project set-up, developing control-level schedules, progress reporting, and project close-out • Practical field experience • Membership and active participation in external technical society • Intermediate computer and software skills to include the use of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheet and electronic presentation programs • Ability to use discipline specific software may be required Fluor Canada rewards hard work, knowledge, and commitment. Compressed work schedule: The Fluor Canada offices work a compressed work schedule offering every second Friday off. Salary is based upon experience. Salary Range: $111,000.00 - $215,000.00 The market rate for the role is typically at the mid-point of the salary range; however, variations in final salary are determined by additional factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
