Role:
Understand encryption unit function, define requirements with the system engineer, provide technical feedback to the systems team, and communicate with government entities to ensure compliance with COSME requirements.
Tasks:
- Understand encryption unit function from the following perspectives:
- Technical data encryption and authentication
- Within the larger context of the Command and Data Handling Subsystem, as connected to the OBC
- Key Loading: Test keys, development keys, flight keys
- Testing for use on a satellite
- Provide technical feedback to the Systems Team
- Define requirements with Systems Engineer
- Communicate with Government Entities to describe system function and ensure adherence to COMSEC requirements.
- Space Threat assessment
- Risk management
- Test procedure and plan documentation
- Unit-level testing, system-level testing
Skills:
- Experience with: Packet sniffer TKL/SKL
- AES-256 Standard
- Red/Black Concept
- Crypto keys, key management, key loading
- Encryption and authentication of TM/TC
- GCM Encryption
- OTAR
- ITAR
- CCSDS Standards
- Ground Encryption
- NIST cybersecurity publications
- EGSE and lab testing
- Previous COMSEC training
Requirements:
- Engineering or Computer Science Degree in a related field (IT, Network Engineering, Embedded Systems are most relevant, Cybersecurity exp is a plus)
- +5 y Experience
- Desired: Specifically with Encryption Units in Space or Defense
- Canadian citizen
- Ability to obtain secret clearance
Comments/Special Considerations:
Successful candidates must obtain and hold security clearance at the reliability status level, and pass security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP).
