Business Analyst

The Business Analyst is an experienced specialist who leads parts of the regulatory transformation including supporting the digitization and sustainment of the department's regulatory evaluation and reporting processes and products. This position functions as an internal consultant and works closely with the Regulatory Evaluation and Reporting (RER) team, divisional senior staff and subject matter experts to lead and facilitate the development of regulatory performance monitoring products such as online dashboards, reports, and trackers. This role assists with ensuring that activities and initiatives are aligned with the Regulatory Assurance Framework.

The position requires building strong relationships and working collaboratively across department branches to ensure regulatory evaluation and reporting is data-driven and contextualized. The individual is experienced with data analysis and management of business information and can identify inconsistencies and trends in data and reports. The individual will have the ability to communicate findings and recommendations clearly to business users and leads. The business analyst will play a key role in supporting RER team with distinguishing short-term and longer-term needs to drive towards operational and policy recommendations.

Working Hours/location:
" Standard Hours of work are 8:15 to 4:30 with a 1 hr lunch break Alberta time, Monday through Friday excluding holidays observed by the province.
" This resource will primarily work remotely; however, the resource may be required to attend meetings or work sessions in office on reasonable notice from the Province. At the time of providing such notice, the Province will advise of the expected duration of any such meetings or work sessions. However, time to travel and any associated expenses to and from Edmonton and/or travel within Alberta will be at no cost to the Province.
" The expectation will be for the resource to work from the office for an occasional quarterly meeting will need to be in Alberta
" Location: ... Oxbridge Place for the occasional on-site meetings
" When working remotely work must be done within Canada

Incumbency:
" Net new role

Background check required.
" The Supplier shall, prior to commencement of the Services, provide the Province, on its request and at no cost to the Province, with criminal record checks.

Mandatory Training Courses:
" Once hired the resource will be required to complete all mandatory training which includes but not limited to Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, Security/Cybersecurity, Information Management, and Respect in the Workplace. There may also be other mandatory and/or optional training.

" Interviews are expected to be held between May 25 to June 4. This is an estimate only.

Equipment requirements:
" Resource must provide their own computer and related equipment. The computer's operating system must be a modern version that is compatible with Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) and related software for remote access. Windows is preferred due to better compatibility. AVD/remote-related software will be installed on the resource's computer.
" The Contractor shall be responsible for their own printers, supplies, desks and chairs. However, the Province shall ensure that the Contractor s resources have the necessary access and credentials to the Government of Alberta s system.
The fixed rate quoted must be inclusive of all overhead, office space and equipment, including supplies, administrative burden, mark-up, and all other costs to perform the Services for the duration of the Contract.
