Review client RFQs, technical specifications, P&IDs, and isometric drawings to understand the full scope of work.
Perform detailed material take-offs (MTOs) and calculate labor hours for welding, fitting, and assembly based on shop metrics.
Prepare accurate, competitive, and timely bid packages for piping spools, structural skids, and pressure vessels.
Identify potential risks or scope gaps in client documentation during the tender phase.
2. Project Coordination
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients once a project is awarded, providing updates on timelines and milestones.
Create and maintain project schedules, ensuring alignment between engineering, procurement, and the shop floor.
Manage Change Orders (COs): Track scope changes, estimate their cost impact, and obtain client approval before proceeding.
Ensure all quality control (QC) documentation and turnover packages are compiled correctly for project closeout.
3. Procurement & Material Sourcing
Source pipe, fittings, flanges, valves, and structural steel from vendors.
Negotiate pricing and lead times with suppliers to ensure project profitability.

Manage inventory levels for project-specific materials

Qualifications
Experience: 3 to 5 years of experience in estimating or project coordination within a piping fabrication, module yard, or industrial manufacturing environment.
Education: Post-secondary education in Engineering Design, Construction Management, or a related trade certification (e.g., Steamfitter/Pipefitter) is preferred.
Technical Knowledge:
Strong ability to read and interpret P&IDs, Isometrics, and General Arrangement (GA) drawings.
Familiarity with ASME B31.3, ASME Section VIII, and CWB structural codes is highly desirable.
Material Sourcing: Proven experience sourcing PVF (Pipe, Valves, Fittings) and understanding steel grades/specifications.
Software Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel is essential) and experience with ERP/MRP systems.

Experience estimating for both carbon and stainless steel applications.
Existing relationships with local Edmonton/Alberta vendors.

Skills for Success
Analytical Mindset: You can look at a drawing and visualize the fabrication process step-by-step.
Communication: You can speak "shop talk" with fabricators and professional technical language with clients.
Time Management: You can juggle active projects while ensuring new bids get out the door on time.
