What is the opportunity?

Physical Network Strategy is responsible for the strategy and execution of the Canadian Banking physical network (branches and ATMs). The Market & Physical Distribution Planning team helps Shape the Future of Physical Banking in Canada by leading the reimagining and transformation of RBC’s Personal, Commercial and Private Banking physical network.

This is a unique opportunity to lead a multi-year transformation of our national footprint – redefining market coverage, optimizing client access, and positioning RBC for long-term growth in an evolving financial landscape. RBC is recruiting a Senior Manager Market & Physical Distribution Planning role to join an experienced team.

What You’ll do?

As Senior Manager, you will be supporting specific markets by leading the 3-5 year roadmap for RBC’s Personal, Commercial and Private Banking physical network. This role combines strategy, planning, analytics, real estate and executive influence – offering high visibility and meaningful impact. The team and candidate’s objective are to define a forward-looking strategy that optimizes market coverage, improves client access and increases operational efficiency. This will be done through:

• Portfolio management by providing a forward-looking strategy using geospatial and financial analytics to optimize coverage, identify growth opportunities, and manage location risks
• Conducting competitive assessments, understanding market conditions including demographics, and regulatory assessment to inform market strategies
• Presenting insights and strategic recommendations to executive audiences with clarity and impact by translating complex data into clear, actionable recommendations
• Developing compelling business cases to secure executive alignment and investment
• Leading special projects that advance RBC’s broader distribution transformation agenda
• Partnering cross-functionally with Physical Network Strategy team, Regional Leaders, Finance, Corporate Real Estate and external partners (CBRE) to ensure seamless execution

What do you need to succeed?

Must have:

• Undergraduate degree in Geography, Real Estate, Urban Planning, or a related discipline
• 7+ yrs experience in network strategy, distribution planning or related field
• Deep expertise in geospatial analytics, distribution strategy or planning
• Demonstrated success leading complex, cross-functional initiatives
• Executive-level communication skills – you simplify complexity and drive action
• Proven ability to balance growth, risk and cost in capital deployment decisions
• Advanced analytical skills with experience using data, analytical tools, and financials to shape strategy
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities

Nice to have:

• BA or MA (Urban and Economic Geography)
• Experience in Financial Services or large multi-site portfolio environments
• Real estate development or portfolio strategy background
