Kraken Robotics is currently recruiting for an Electronics Technologist to join our fast-growing Production team at our Mount Pearl, NL office.


Our Technologists work with sensitive electronics in a clean workshop environment, assembling a variety of Kraken product lines, including high resolution sonar (SAS), underwater vehicles (KATFISH), underwater battery support equipment, and Autonomous Launch and Recovery Systems (ALARS). The ideal candidate will possess a keen eye for quality and detail, as they will be responsible for building assemblies designed to function in some of our world’s most challenging terrain, our ocean depths.

The successful applicant will have an opportunity to work with cutting edge technology, located in our Mount Pearl, NL location.


ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Electrical assembly and wiring:

  • Assemble, route, terminate, and verify cable harnesses in accordance with production drawings, work instructions, and quality requirements. Complete rackmount equipment set up and configuration. Assemble electronic chassis and subassemblies, install and wire electrical bulkheads, and ensure completed work meets applicable specifications before moving to the next stage of production.

Inspection and testing:

  • Complete incoming checks on sensor, electronic, and electrical components to confirm they meet required standards before use in production. Support production testing across various products by performing functional checks, assisting with troubleshooting, identifying potential issues, and documenting results clearly and accurately.

Documentation:

  • Create, update, and maintain accurate build logs, build procedures, and other required production documentation. Ensure documentation is complete, traceable, and organized to support quality control, repeatability, and ongoing process improvement.

General Assembly & Technical Support:

  • Perform mechanical assembly, soldering, rework, and general shop support tasks as required to meet production priorities. Work collaboratively with Production, Production Support, Engineering, and Quality teams to resolve build issues, maintain workflow, and support safe, efficient, and high-quality manufacturing practices. Use of a respirator may be required for some assembly activities. Being clean shaven is required during respirator.


QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Diploma in Engineering Technology, or other Technical Diploma with experience
  • Electronics assembly and troubleshooting experience
  • Experience wire splicing/soldering
  • Familiarity using engineering drawings and technical documentation
  • Experience in the installation and connection methods of electrical equipment
  • Demonstrated technical skills along with a proven track record for success
  • Experience in a shop environment, specifically with hand tools
  • Familiarity with proper shop safety practices
  • Experience in the use and maintenance of electrical test equipment
  • Strong written and oral communications skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • High degree of organization, with the ability to prioritize tasks
  • Appreciation of other engineering disciplines (mechanical and software)
  • Experience with any of the following would be considered an asset:
    • Experience installing and operating electronics equipment in an ocean environment
    • Experience with sonar systems and acoustic signal processing
    • Experience testing and troubleshooting software systems
    • Experience configuring and installing motor drives
    • Experience in through hole and surface mount soldering
    • Experience with quality assurance and quality control procedures (QA & QC)
    • Experience with computer networking
