Chief Executive Officer

THE OPPORTUNITY

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will serve as the senior executive leader of Tribal Chiefs Ventures Inc. (TCV), reporting to the Board of Directors. The CEO will be responsible for strategic leadership, operational management, and the overall performance of TCV’s programs, initiatives, and business operations, including affordable housing and property management.

This role is pivotal in ensuring TCV’s services are relevant, effective, and aligned with the priorities of its member communities. The CEO will also secure funding, advise the Board on governance matters, and provide strategic direction across all aspects of the organization.

THE ORGANIZATION

Tribal Chiefs Ventures Inc. (TCV) is a non-profit Tribal Council that provides advisory and technical services to its six Treaty No. Six member First Nations located in North-eastern Alberta within Treaty Six Territory. The organization is committed to supporting the social, economic, and governance development of its member communities while respecting and upholding Treaty and inherent rights.

TCV operates across a variety of initiatives, including affordable housing, community development, and business operations through Tribal Chiefs Development LP. The organization places a strong emphasis on integrity, collaboration, and culturally grounded approaches to governance and service delivery.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Leadership & Operations

• Provide executive leadership across all departments to ensure alignment with TCV’s mission, vision, and strategic goals.
• Develop and implement organizational strategies, policies, and operational plans in collaboration with the Board.
• Oversee day‑to‑day operations, ensuring efficiency, accountability, and compliance with applicable laws and standards.
• Lead and foster a positive, productive organizational culture grounded in respect, collaboration, and First Nation values.

Governance & Advisory

• Advise the Board on governance best practices, regulatory compliance, and strategic priorities.
• Prepare position papers, reports, and recommendations on key issues affecting Treaty and inherent rights.
• Ensure accountability to funders, stakeholders, and member First Nations.

Business & Financial Management

• Oversee TCV’s business initiatives, including affordable housing programs and Tribal Chiefs Development LP.
• Secure funding through proposals and partnerships with government and other stakeholders.
• Manage organizational resources effectively, balancing operational needs with strategic goals.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Recognized degree in Management, Business, Finance, Law, or equivalent experience; MBA preferred.
• Minimum of 5–10 years of senior management or executive leadership experience.
• Extensive knowledge of First Nation culture, values, protocols, and relationships.
• Familiarity with federal and provincial programs, the Indian Act, Treaties, UNDRIP, CANDRIP, and contemporary First Nation issues.
• Strong experience in governance, business development, and financial management.
• Exceptional leadership, decision‑making, communication, and people‑management skills.
• Valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation; ability to travel overnight as required.
• Clear criminal record check and driver’s abstract.
• Indigenous language proficiency is an asset.
