Job description

Position Summary

Full service psychiatry consultant position for a 23 bed Schedule One Facility. Working collaboratively with a highly involved group of family physicians in an established community mental health program and with community agencies. Assessment and treatment of mental illnesses through multiple modalities, including psychotherapy, ECT, hospitalization, and medication. Teaching opportunities exist on an ongoing basis.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

On-Call:
• Provision of on-call services based at OSMH (1 in 4) with support from mental health hospitalists and crisis intervention staff

In-Patient:
• Consultation for OSMH credentialed staff and regional partners
• Participation and cooperation as a contributing team member.

Out-Patient:
• Provision of out-patient consultations.

Administrative and Quality:
• Participation in strategic planning and program development of psychiatry services.
• Participation in ongoing quality improvement and safety activities.
• Participation in hospital committees pertaining to specialty and as required by the credentialed staff by-laws.
• Efficient use of resources.

REMUNERATION:

• Fee for Service
• HOCC for on-call
• Sessional funding
• Stipend Funding
• Office/Billing/Secretary

Qualifications

Education:
• College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) unrestricted license that allows the physician to fulfil the requirements of this position.
• Fellowship or Certification in Psychiatry recognized by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC).

Experience:
• Previous psychiatry experience preferred.

Other:
• Member of the credentialed staff of Orillia Soldiers' Memorial Hospital.
• Demonstrate commitment to continued professional and personal growth and development through Continuing Education Programs and Self-Directed Learning opportunities.
